Day 8: Prosecco

I only gave a small gift today as I spent most of it sequestered in my home cleaning. I actually woke up in a panic that I had forgotten to give yesterday! Then I remembered that I did actually give a bottle of Prosecco to my friends as a thank you for inviting my husband and I over to dinner. A good time was had by all at the get together and I was glad to have contributed in even a small way.

I feel as though yesterday I received a lot more than I gave. My husband put up the Christmas lights… Continue

Day 11 Round 2 Sunday

Today my gift is going to be to take Charlie to get his picture taken with Santa. Chris and Charlie and I are going to the nearby mall to get his pictures taken. I feel like this could wait until one day this week, but I am happy Chris will get to be there, too.

My gift to Chris today will be to let him watch whatever TV shows he wants, even though I really do not like the shows he enjoys. I am not a big fan of TV but some of the shows he watches are so depressing and sad. So, today even though… Continue

Round 2 fizzled out

Well, I lost track of where I was in round two, which is to say, I wasn't doing a very good job of self-care!

I recently had a reading with Mbali. I was very frazzled going into it. Had a lot going on in several directions. Then the house phone started ringing-- I had to stop the reading to figure out how to turn the darn thing off... of course, I was interrupted by a State Representative who's trying to resolve a situation with a Naturopath that's wrongly trying to charge me for services... no… Continue

Day 8

Last night I was going through the "junk" drawer looking for an antacid - another thing too many of us need this time of year:) and I came across a gift certificate for a full auto showroom detaining that expires in January.

There is NO way - I will be able to find the time to use this before it expires - although I most certainly need it since I live in the land of ice, snow and road salt.

However - a very dear friend of mine has a niece who just turned 16 this past Summer. And her Father ble… Continue

Day 7 and 8

Yesterday, I mailed a copy of a Mitch Albom book " a little bit of faith" to a friend who is going through some treatment.

Last night I was browsing my People magazine, and low and behold I saw "29gifts" book in the giving section idea. I was so excited to see it there! I will be picking up another copy for my sister and passing it along to her for Christmas.

Day 19

Today I was provided the opportunity to give a lady with diabetes information how to be absolutely cured of diabetes.
I was also given the opportunity to help an elderly lady with cramps in her calves.
I gave my friend some movies that I had taped for her.

Something Sentimental (Day 5 Round 4)

My daughter is leaving for Africa on Monday to do mission work. It is customary to give gifts with her host family. She was brainstorming on what to give. It hit me that I had the perfect gifts to give to her to give to them. I have a handmade wooden cross made by a member of our church congregation that was given to me years ago. It is special because of the love the man who made it put into his work and I appreciate that immensely. I have the cross by my bed. I offered that to my daughter to g… Continue

Day 6

Oh boy, what a day. This giving challenge has given me, not only an awareness of what I give through the day, or how much other people give, but how much giving brings you into the present. How it forces you to LIVE every day, rather than only being aware of living a week, or a month, or a year. When you decide to become aware of giving, you cannot help but become aware of every day. I love this! I especially have trouble with living in the present. I tend to get caught up in what might or might… Continue

Free e-cards to donate $1 to ......

This is pretty cool - Fidelity Investments is donating $1 for every FREE holiday e-card you send. This money goes to buy musical instruments for children in public schools. As a big believer in the arts, I think this rocks!! Here is the web link if you are interested in learning more and/or sending these free e-cards to as many people as you wish. I just got done sending a bunch to friends all over the country. I love free money that goes to a good cause!… Continue

Day 11

I did several gives today, but only one did I really do mindfully. I really try to be more mindful of what I do througout the day, some days are just easier to stay in 'mindful mode' than others. So . . the one thing that I was truly mindful about was, on the spur of the moment I thought of a wonderful gift to give a friend I was seeing today. I went to this particular specialty store, ordered what I knew she would really like and brought it to her. It feels so good to do a really good give and… Continue
