Day 20

I am taking graduate classes in Instructional Technology. It is one of the most difficult things I've done in a while. I've been very frustrated lately with assignments. In my job, I am experienced. I've been in the same school for eight years. Same desk, same library, same people..... I know where things are. I know how to fix what breaks. I know how many chicken fingers to order for a faculty lunch. But, I don't know how to write HTML code for a web site. I am learning, but it is hard not to b… Continue

Day 7 & 8 Expanding My Circle of Recipients

I'm quite happy with my last two "gives". A friend from Canada mentioned how much she missed Trader Joe's and their wine, apples and soap. While I couldn't put the booze and fruit in the mail, I did manage to create a Trader Joe's care package for her. She's a new mom and I glad to be giving someone just to her. Next, there is a sweet little old lady who I see feeding a cat in the mornings and she usually stops to pet my dog. Last night after a late night jaunt to the bar, on my final dog dutie… Continue

Day Five

Yesterday was a piece of cake. I tried to keep track of my giving by the hour but then the puppies took over the afternoon and I ended up doing things that distracted me from the computer. But this is what I had: 7:00-8:00 Let fiancé sleep in because he’s been working very hard this week and has another long day tomorrow morning. 8:00-9:00 Emailed a friend some quotes that I thought she would appreciate. 9:00-10:00 Gave a friend an interpretation of a tarot card spread she had done for hersel… Continue

Spiders ... ick no more!

Well ever since I was about 3, one of my earliest memories was being traumatized by one of those zebra-looking little spiders. I grew up with three brothers who spider-teased me and a bedroom where spiders loved and had babies in ever year. They would dangle from the ceiling and slowly lower ... closer ... and just generally try to "get me". So my giving today might seem trite and meaningless, but to me it was a big deal. My office has TONS of spiders. The big daddy long leg variety. They are i… Continue

Day 3

I gave my friend Helen the gift of an evening at a scrapbooking crop! In return I received the pleasure of an evening spent with a dear friend doing something I had forgotten I loved! I also won a door prize of some beautiful ribbon and some page embellishments. Five things for which I am grateful: 1. Fiona 2. Riley 3. John 4. A car that is paid for and that runs. 5. My canine companions.

Day 4 and 5

Day 4 - My friend Riley and I went to breakfast and I bought her a scone! Day 5 - Today my friend was having a really hard time dealing with some stuff, so I gave him a hug and we talked for a while. He bought me a movie ticket behind my back which was super sweet and was a clear example of how giving to others gives right back!

July 18th, Friday-Day 7(2nd time around)

Good giving day! Got some really deep cleaning and serious housework done today. Hubby took the grandson, so I could sleep late and not have to get dressed to run around in the car! I finished up another book cover and mailed it. I was working seriously on my webpage today, and make great progress, with little left to update. I got an invitation to coffee from a great friend I have not spent quality alone time with in years! I gave her a new journal and invited her to write her 2 sided gratitude… Continue

Day 1- Cookies!

Today I brought a package of cookies to work and left them on a table in the breakroom with a note on the whiteboard that said "Happy Friday. Help Yourself!". Before I'd even left the breakroom, 3 people had taken cookies and thanked me. In addition to getting a little boost of sugar, the three people also took a few minutes to chat with each other. It was a nice thing to see on a Friday afternoon. And, on Day 1, I'm already having joy come back to me. A colleague of mine was diagnosed with ca… Continue

Day 2

Well, today has been one of those very tough days that I just do not want to leave the house...and I have been thinking all day of what I can give without leaving home...then it hit me, there's a movie in the making called The Shift that focuses on the interconnectedness of the univese and the collective shift in awareness that is slowly taking place. This movie features amazing and inspiring people such as Desmond Tutu, Deepak Chopra and many more and the best part is that it is being made on d… Continue
