29-Day Giving Challenge

29 GIFTS -- GIVE A LITTLE BIT. MAKE A BIG IMPACT.

29 Gifts is a global giving movement with several thousand members in 38 countries. Our collective mission at 29 Gifts is to revive the giving spirit in the world. We change lives—and change the world—one gift at a time. You can learn more about how our 29-Day Giving Challenge works and sign up to join us by committing to give your gifts to the world.
29 Gifts: How A Month Of Giving Can Change Your Life is available in book stores now. 29 Gifts is the insightful story of how our founder, Cami walker, saw her life change as she embraces and reflects on the naturally reciprocal process of giving and receiving. By Day 29, not only had Cami’s health and happiness improved, but she had created a worldwide giving movement. The book also includes personal essays from others whose lives changed for the better by giving 29 Gifts. More than a memoir, 29 Gifts offers inspiring lessons on how a simple daily practice of altruism can dramatically alter your outlook on the world. Visit your local bookstore to buy a copy now, or order online from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or Borders today.

Rd 11 Day 8~ Crafts to share

My mom ran a Craft workshop for all the girl scouts in our service unit. The purpose was to make items for each month of the year to donate to Meals on Wheels for their trays of food, and for the girls to take to local nursing homes in our area. I help out for the day! It was a fun day for all the girls.
A secondary give was buying a $5 gift card from Subway to give to the next person in line.

Rd 11 Day 9~ Menu Planning and a birthday

Sad news that my Uncle who has been battling Parkinsons disease passed away. Even though it is a sad time My aunt is celebrating her 75th birthday tomorrow so tonight we took her out to eat along with two of my uncles and two of my other aunts. we didn't want the sad news to overshadow her birthday. It really was a lovely night and it was great to spend time with family.

I also took the time tonight to plan out our healthy meels for this week, make a shopping list and gather coupons.

Days 10, 11, 12

Day 10, I gave myself the day off!
Day 11, I became conciously aware of giving people the right away in traffic and at Walmart. I let someone go in front of me at the checkout.
Day 12, I gave myself permission to feel ok, even relief after my teenager moved out of the house. I do not have to feel guilty or bad. It actually feels pretty darned good after all!

Days Seven and Eight

We had a beautiful fall weekend, which I squandered by barely getting out of my pajamas.

Yesterday, we were lucky that our friend had all three of our kids for a sleepover and I got to give my day Seven gifts. A local couple did a fundraiser dinner/auction for their adoption. We got a lovely meal - got to have dinner with one of my favorite people (the director of the local adoption agency), my lovely friend Tracy. We bought tickets to the dinner and bid on about 7 things at the auction, happil… Continue

Day 2 Round 2

Today was a light giving day. I checked in on my friend's husband. She is in Egypt for 2 weeks and he doesn't really get out much. Someone checks in on him each day and today was one of my days. Did my giving on the clicking sites. Called my friend that has been having huge financial issues to see if she is feeling better. Called my friend Charlene who is in the country alone while her husband is at his daughter's while he recuperates from a fall.

Days 17, 18, 19 and 20

Oops! I guess I haven't blogged in awhile! :P

Day 17: Actually got the teddy bears for the Ft. Hood survivors to the post office! Yippee! :o) I also made another food bank donation at the grocery store.

Day 18: Volunteer day at the school. I also bought another candle (50% of the proceeds go the school).

Day 19: Gave the candle I bought to my stylist -- she loved it and was so thrilled! Gave myself time to read! :o)

Day 20: I wrote a letter to my senior friend (will mail it tomorrow). I gave… Continue

Grateful

I am very grateful to have found this site. With so much emphasis on negative thinking these days how refreshing it is to be a part of a positive thinking and positive doing community. I have renewed hope in the human race. Norman Vincent Peale would be proud (positive thinking clergyman-now deceased). Today I gave the gift of forgiveness. It was huge. I also gave myself the gift of exercise. Cami your life has become the sun and it shines on the world.

Day 14- One for him & one for me

A quiet Sunday with only a trip to Whole Foods as activity. Nice. My gift to myself was the time to read the whole New York Times this morning- even the magazine. I hung around the house in my jammies reading and resting until noon. My DH made me blueberry pancakes (his gift to me every Sunday). I felt like I might be trying to fight off some kind of illness, so I gave myself the gift of a relaxing day.

My gift to my DH today was a big, giant bakery peanut butter cookie. He had mentioned cookie… Continue

it was a "warm up" because all the holds on this climb were really big and easy to hold onto. =) Easy moves, stretching out. The picture makes it look more intimidating than it truly is. =)
