29-Day Giving Challenge

Hello all,

I started doing 29 Gifts this month (April 1) and I love every minute of it.  I try to be mindful everyday of what I can offer someone whether be a simple gesture, compliment, or something physical.

Recently though, I've run into some hesitation from the recipients of gifts or maybe what I consider hesitation.

For example, my gift of offering help and suggestions seemed to be brushed off the other day when I was offering some help and suggestions to another when they were injured playing basketball.  I wanted to make sure they were all right.  I did offer them a ride home but they declined.  Granted, I was pretty much a stranger to them but I was wondering if my generosity of offering is considered a gift in itself as long as I was mindful when I was offering it?

My second predicament was actually a physical gift that was simply declined by someone close to me. After being kind and helping me out, I went out and bought a small gift for the persons who helped out.  Shockingly, one of the recipients of the gift was completely offended that I was even considering giving them a gift because as they said they would do what they did because they care.  They aren't looking for gifts.  They even stated to not ever buy something again.  Again, does my gift even if it is declined considered a gift if I was mindful about the gift in the first place?

I don't remember reading about anyone declining gifts in the book except when Cami felt awkward in receiving gifts at the beginning.

It was a gift for sure. You gave them from the heart and with intention. This happens to us all now and then. Don't let it get you down or curb your giving gifts..

Thank you so much Deb.  I love that answer and I certainly won't let it discourage me from future giving.

I am so sorry you experienced this.....sometimes that happens. It happens to all of us, believe me. You certainly gave from your heart....take care, bless you for all that you do, and keep up the giving!

Don't lose faith. We all deal with this...
