29-Day Giving Challenge

Below are eight gifts that don't cost a cent to give.

1) THE GIFT OF LISTENING...
But you must REALLY listen.
No interrupting, no daydreaming, no planning your response.
Just listening.

2) THE GIFT OF AFFECTION...
Be generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on
the back and handholds.
Let these small actions demonstrate the love you have for family and friends.

3) THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER...
Funny pictures. Share articles, funny stories and funny greetings.
Your gift will say, "I love to laugh with you."

4) THE GIFT OF A WRITTEN NOTE...
It can be a simple "Thanks for the help" note or a full sonnet.
A brief, handwritten note may be remembered for a lifetime, and may even change a life.

5) THE GIFT OF A COMPLIMENT...
A simple and sincere, "You look great in red,"
"You did a super job" or "That was a wonderful meal" can make someone's day.

6) THE GIFT OF A FAVOR...
Every day, go out of your way to do something kind.
Helping elderly cross the road can be nice.

7) THE GIFT OF SOLITUDE...
There are times when we want nothing better than to be left alone.
Be sensitive to those times and give the gift of solitude to others.

8) THE GIFT OF A CHEERFUL DISPOSITION...
The easiest way to feel good is to extend a kind word to someone, really it's not that hard to say, Hello or Thank You.
"What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others." ...Pericles

I got this in an email and found it so appropriate for here!
I am copying it and pasting it to my list of things to do!
My huge bathroom mirror has notes all over it, which is OK with me,
as I am liking looking at my 52 year old face less these days, and focusing on how to spend my day-more!
I am so glad you guys liked it!

This is the best gift list yet. Awesome, Sharon! Thank you. Think I'll post it on Henry's bathroom mirror - he's been a bit overworked and surly lately. :- )

And I LOVE the rose! Printing that out, too, for my mirror and a handmade card or two.

These are great! Thanks so much for sharing them. We need new ideas each day. Sometimes I want to do the same gift for different people on a new day, then decide to come up with something more unique. :)

Peace and joy, Arisana

Sharon Thanks for this

These are powerful gives Especially the gift of listening. I would also add there the gift of being present, in itself is healing.

In this world of technology
I would like to add the gift of conversation

Emails and texts ......we have lost the art of conversation and listening . I love to hear the voice and the intonations.
How many times have I misunderstood or have been misunderstood through email

You are so right! I am beginning to dislike texting so much!
I also have not had a handwritten letter in a while...
Or sent one, for that matter.
Cards are about the best we do these days!
I have been practicing listening this year, and getting so much better at it.
People expect so many words form me, as I am a talker...but being quiet is getting easier.

I realized halfway through the day I hadn't given anything or even thought about it. I gave my Weight Watchers treat to a young woman in my office who told me her mom was on Weight Watchers. I thought she might not know about these terrific "1 point…
