GREAT BOOK GIVEAWAY: Animal Dreams by Barbara Kingsolver - WINNER IS: Ann Hite

This week's giveaway is is a copy of Animal Dreams by Barbara Kingsolver. This is well-read, and well-loved, right off my bookshelf. I enjoyed the multi-layered storyline, and the way the story addresses so many subjects: the power of history and culture, environmentalism, politics, love and family... Now it's time to pass it along to someone else who enjoy it.

Here's a little bit about the book:

"Animals dream about the things they do in the day time just like people do. If you want sweet dreams, you've got to live a sweet life." So says Loyd Peregrina, a handsome Apache trainman and latter-day philosopher. But when Codi Noline returns to her hometown, Loyd's advice is painfully out of her reach. Dreamless and at the end of her rope, Codi comes back to Grace, Arizona to confront her past and face her ailing, distant father. What the finds is a town threatened by a silent environmental catastrophe, some startling clues to her own identity, and a man whose view of the world could change the course of her life.

Blending flashbacks, dreams, and Native American legends, Animal Dreams is a suspenseful love story and a moving exploration of life's largest commitments. With this work, the acclaimed author of The Bean Trees and Homeland and Other Stories sustains her familiar voice while giving readers her most remarkable book yet.

I would more than love to read this book. I am a long time animal activist, rescue and foster "parent" to our furry and feathered friends. Cami, you are so kind and generous to offer an item from your own library. A chronic book lover, I'm not sure I could part with any of my treasures. If I do win this one, I thank you and promise to pass on after enhaling.

xx,
Mary

I live on the beach in Florida and right now we're in the middle of turtle nesting season. It's so great to have a state, and many wonderful volinteers invest so much effort in the protection and survival of these wonderful creatures. I for one have witnessed the nesting process as well as the hatching of the baby turtles and their return to the ocean. I will always be apart of our animal world and if I should win, I too will pass on such an important book.
