29-Day Giving Challenge

"You can lead Ducks to water, but you can't make them drink , , , "

Anybody want to talk to Giving's Sister ?

That's right I'm talking about Receiving , , , ,

Sometimes harder to relate to , Sometimes badly neglected.

Why do I see so many Ducks suffering from dehydration right there beside the pond ?

Is there a way ?

What can I say? ......... Yes, we need to receive too. I think most of us on here are receiving. In fact some people post their blogs in a way in which they first share what they have given and then share what they have received. Also, many people on the site have discussed the importance of giving to ourselves.

Still, I do agree sometimes it can be hard to receive. We want to give and give, just keep giving something bigger and better ... this is how we begin to neglect ourselves (and become dehydrated ducks; right?). I think that anyone who is at that point needs to stop and give a little something to themselves ... and let others give to them too. If we don't allow ourselves to receive, we can't really give to others (because we'll be ducks dying of thirst).

And as so many people on here have said: we don't need to give and give, more and more, bigger and better things; what we are already giving is plenty, more than enough. If we realize this and realize we need to receive as well as give, we can be some well-balanced, healthy, lucky duckies! :)
in a perfect world, we would strike a balance between giving and receiving so that we would not get "dehydrated". receiving gets a bad rap sometimes. i try to remind myself that by receiving i am giving others the chance to experience the joy of giving. sometimes i listen to myself ;-)
Ken, you're right. This can be a really hard thing to do - in even the simplest ways. I like this reminder.

Sometimes what a duck needs most is the very thing that is enthusiastically rejected .
Agree!
Sometimes we just have to keep trying ... keep trying to teach that duck to receive, teach it what it needs.

By giving to ourselves and letting others give to us we are actually giving to everyone our lives touch ... we are giving them a happier/better us to live with (and an us that is more able to give).
I think that is a real genuine insight , , , , you might have just saved a duck or two .

I guess you have to just take a drink yourself and demonstrate the process . But oh, it is slow
