You have total control over the email you get from the 29Gifts community site. Once you've changed your email settings, make sure you
HIT SAVE when you're done. Sometimes people get frustrated that they've changed the email settings and are still getting email, but in every case they have failed to SAVE the new settings in the system.
TO CHANGE YOUR EMAIL SETTINGS:
1. Log into the community page at
http://www.givingchallenge.ning.com using your email address and password. (If you forgot your password you can reset it using the auto reset feature.)
2. Click the red
SETTINGS link, which is in the upper right corner of the screen under your name, inbox, alerts and friends links.
3. Click the
EMAIL link in the left sidebar of the edit profile page
4.
Use the check boxes to note what types of email you want to turn on and off.
One box I highly recommend UNCHECKING is the RECEIVE EMAIL FROM ALL FRIENDS BOX. Unfortunately people often send friend requests to build up their friend lists and promote their own businesses by emailing all friends. This is spam and annoying, but they do it anyway.
We do recommend that you check the box that says "Receive emails sent to the entire network." Only Cami Walker, our founder can send all network messages and she sends a weekly community update that is full of giving ideas, inspiration and great giveaways we offer though our site.
If you don't want to get any email from the site at all, just check the box at the bottom that says:
NONE: I DON'T WANT TO RECEIVE EMAILS FROM 29-DAY GIVING CHALLENGE
5.
CLICK THE SAVE BUTTON at the bottom of the page (right side of screen).
Click here to get started changing your email settings.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you hit SAVE when you've finished changing your settings or it won't work!! Our site administrators
DO NOT have access to your personal account to enable us to do this for you. You have to set the email preferences yourself. However if you have questions, you can email admin@29Gifts.org.
ALSO: Note that
on every discussion string on the forum and in every group on the site, there is a check box that says "STOP FOLLOWING." If you check this box, you will not get messages every time someone replies to the string or group.
You can also use the "clear my follow list" button to "STOP FOLLOWING" all threads at once, rather than having to do so individually.
