29-Day Giving Challenge

I have started giving freeware ebooks with freeware reader -

Hi Y'll,

As you can guess I am new here.   As a child born with cerebral palsy I was very delayed at getting out and playing as a child.   My dad told me "as long as you have a book you are never alone."   At age 4 I demanded that he teach me how he got those words off the page, so I began to learn to read, and 55 yrs later at nearly 59; I am still at it.  So I love books.

I went into respiritory care and then sleeplabs as a young adult, and now I still do sleep studies as a traveler at almost 59.  So a lot of times I am between jobs, and that made giving a real challenge.  Then I found that a series of books I love has become a freeware ebook series.   I was overjoyed, and I began by downloading the files to my laptop; and now I can give them to anyone via email.

So that is one of my ways of giving - not the only way - but it's especially  helpful between paychecks.  Giving from the heart wakes up something better than merely human inside the giver.

The giver gets gifted internally many times while the receiver may only see one gift.

I see that I can attach 3 files - so I will post in parts - anyone who wishes can download freely 24/7.

Hi Mary,

Where is Curaco ? It sounds tropical. Hope you enjoy, feel free to tell others about them too, they are free to everybody. I will check out the book club soon.

Thanks,
Ed
Hello, Ed:

Curacao is a little island just above Venezuela, near Aruba and Bonaire. Very tropical and lush. This is our second trip there and we're hyped!

I will definitely regift the links - great idea. Thanks also for the tips below. Very helpful. When employed, I'm a global IT customer services director, so I appreciate good documentation! :- )

Mary
Humbled - I am instructing YOU & I am challenged by cell phones - LOL at my self.
I bet their native produce is fantastic. Can you post some digital photos from down there - I am a "plant freak" and am a fat cook who hasen't seen his feet in years. Be sure and enjoy some Carribian Ettos done up by some local chefs .

Ettos are the Barbatian word for Taro Root Elephant Ear family bulb - If I can get my Barbadian friend's recipe I will post it, she was my wife's prayer partner for yrs till we moved back down to TN.

She made a veggie souse with Ettos that was great.
Hi, Ed! We're back, but sadly, we a) forgot our digital camera and b) our new underwater camera leaked on the first outing, so we couldn't take pictures.

I have never heard of Ettos, but will ask my mother in law about them. She and her husband were raised on Saba and Aruba. Please do post the recipe, if you can find it. I'll also do a search to see what comes up.

Mary
Mary,

Once you read the ebooks, simply use them as email attachments to email - regift them, it will save the original file in your laptop, hand held, or PC. I changed the font size and color and added a pale complementary highlight background to my reading screen. Also if the TV is too loud and I want to block it out I minimize the screen and open mozilla firefox playlist and use reletively even toned music to blank out the TV via headphones.
Hi Ed,

I am clueless about e-books, in fact not so good with a computer and my computer is very slow!. It soulnds like you have an interesting life in TN. I jsut got back form a networking internet summer conference and listed to people from your neck of the woods. So what exactly do I do?
Tamiko
Hi All, and Mary and Tamiko (and welcome to the discussion),

I have many irons in the fire so I appologize at not checking the discussion more frequently.

To use these files I will open the instructions file and copy here. To save these files - right click and save as - (brouse and click your download folder ) thus sending them into your downloads folder. Do not rename the files as I don't know if that will damage them or not.

basic directions.
1. save the files under download folder

2. Go into your download folder and right click on the mobipocket reader file and tell it to run / install and put a shortcut on your desktop.

3. from mobipocket reader once opened and installed, click on import and brouse in the downloads folder and click on each EGW book file and click import or open, that loads a copy in mobipocket reader.

4. make a folder in mobipocket reader and hold down shift key with one finger and left click and hold and drag file into the folder and unclick, do for all the books.

5. left double click on a book file to open it, and top right arrow key on right margin of page = next page, left top arrow on margin of page = previous page.

6. you can change the font size and color, and put in a background highlight color to cut glare.

7. to stop reading click the X at top right of page, mobipocket saves the page you stopped reading at, so never losing the place.

***************************************

Hope this helps, and I remind you all you do not have to ask - just download as a freeware gift and can use these same files and directions to regift this freeware using email to anybody anywhere 24/7. I don't have to be notified, I will trust you guys.

BTW - I am daily active on the web - sharing, encouraging, suggesting, sharing produce / tools / time / help with neighbours as available - so I may not report daily giving, because I do it & forget, cause if you can't do and forget you did it for the wrong reason. When it works right........giving develops and becomes like breathing......you do it without thinking. It becomes part of you.
