You have the power in your hands to brighten someone’s day. And the best part is, it doesn’t cost you a thing
Just brighten the path were you walk.
We all have in our power the way to uplift lives and inspire kindness. It takes stepping out of ourselves for a minute each day and finding a way to just be kind.
John Kimbrough offers these suggestions in his ABC's to kindness.
Affirm a value.
Beam a smile.
Convey a compliment.
Drop a line.
Encourage a good deed.
Forgive a mistake.
Grace a presence.
Honor a preference.
Initiate a conversation.
Join a celebration.
Keep a promise.
Lend a hand.
Meet a need.
Nurse a hurt.
Open a door.
Plan a kindness.
Quiet a conflict.
Remember a special day.
Share a gift.
Touch a shoulder.
Unwrap a gratitude.
Voice a greeting.
X-press happiness.
Yoke a partner.
Zap a suspicion.
I would also add that saying prayers and sending healing energy are also great uplifting ways to help buoy someone in distress.
When we remember that no act of kindness is too small it gives us the courage to take a step and be kind. We may never know what our actions may have set into motion, but I guarantee that kindness always begets kindness.
Let's set a wave of kindness in motion in the month of September.

Love it Love it Love it!!! Everything!!
Gosh, I'm anal....I taking these ABCs and creating a poster to give to someone, but just noticed there's no W. I just looked up about John Kimbough and apparently, he forgot the W as well. What's up with that? Where's the W?
I don't have time for it right now, but apparently, that's my project for today.....here's what comes off the top of my head.....
Write a letter.
Welcome a friend/stranger
Wipe a tear
I could use some help though...can any of you come up with a phrase that belongs on a list that begins with a W?

Permalink Reply by Elly Rose Tech Support on August 28, 2012 at 10:14am I think you found wonderful W's for the alphabet. I didn't even noticed that and I typed all the capital letters. You have an eagle eye. I will put on my thinking hat.
Your W list is great -- in addition how about
Ann, thanks....those are also excellent suggestions for the W list......I especially love that none of them require any money or anything besides being a decent, caring human being.
I very much appreciate your input and thoughts....

Permalink Reply by Christi U. on September 13, 2012 at 9:22am Well, I think someone need to make a poster with all W's. :) You know this whole conversation thread got that song from Sesame Street in my end. Bert's favourite letter is "W" and he has a song about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukBp2XYFCRk

Hysterical, Christi U...thanks for sharing!!!!! It's only 7:27am and I've been laughing about this and that for over an hour-quite a good start to anyone's day, I would say!
Our older son turns 31 year old tomorrow (how the heck did THAT happen?????), so it's been quite a few years since I've been actively watching Sesame Street (still remember my very first episode though...it was Oscar the Grouch's birthday and everyone was giving him things like filthy shoes and other garbage-bound items; of course back then, I didn't quite know who this guy Oscar was, so didn't get it), but spent many a year learning with my kids with the SS bunch!)
Thanks for the memories!!!!
XOXO
Permalink Reply by rocken nana wwt on August 28, 2012 at 2:44pm Thank you for the tips Elly Rose. There are many others that don't cost a thing. Open a door for someone, go talk to someone who doesn't have many people to talk to. Offer to carry out trash. Carry something for someone to their car or postoffice if needed. Lots of little things like that. deb
