We are huge fans of recycling (clothing, toys, etc.) to friends we know that have children that could benefit; then Goodwill. This time of year I have a yard sale to help supplement Christmas for my kids.... but I now have a house full of STUFF everywhere, every closet boxes are exploding - any suggestions? I really need to get organized quickly!

smgrf - I agree completely and wish we all lived near each other. It's so much easier to help someone else sort through and get rid of things. Anyone from Houston?????

I know this defeats the intent, but I would love to have a partner in Clutter Busters. You know, someonne who would come to my house and say, Susan, let's do a bedroom closet today, or the basement or a dining room drawer..........wouldn't that be a wonderful "gift"!

However, people that I know who are clean freaks are so freaked out by that show but, since I do keep a lot of crap I realize just how easy it is to go down that road. I'd like to be somewhere in the middle!

That program is fascinating and scary all rolled into one! That's why I try to keep it down to the basics =o)

PS - my husband made sure I watched the Hoarders and now I'm hooked. I want so bad to go and help those people unclutter.... and then I remember my house! I'm nowhere near where they are, fortunately. I'm looking forward to a life of simplicity, free of clutter.

Allie - we have much in common! My niece calls my 'gift closet' the Mary Poppins Closet, since whenever anyone needs or wants something, I always seem to have it in that closet!! I think I already mentioned that I, too, am donating everything out of that closet this month to a local adoption center or shelter. And I mean EVERYTHING! Also, my doll collection has already been divided up and will be given to my nieces for Christmas.

After I apply for a couple of jobs, I'm hitting the room upstairs again to pack up clothes to donate. It's so nice outside, think I'll open up all the windows and let the sunshine in while I work.

Re artwork, yes, I love anything wooden, which I reinvent into something decorative and usually spiritual. I've had offers to sell in bulk, but I never have anything on hand; always give them away. My "plan" is to make enough to post on etsy.com and take commissions as well. I also "plan" to make something to give away on 29Gifts. So many plans, so little time... :-)

Mary do you make recycled artwork? Let's see, yesterday I cleaned the house. I got rid of a ton more clothes that didn't fit (stuff that fit 4 years ago!!). I also have a bag for goodwill and four bags for the food bank. I just need to drop it all off tomorrow! Today I also gave a give from my gift closest. Yes, that is right, I have a gift closet. I tend to buy a ton of things once it is 90% off after Christmas...you know those gift baskets. So I decided the other day, I will just give them away for any rhyme or reason to empty it out some. Today I gave a nice pink lotion and body wash gift basket to a secretary that just came back today from having surgery for breast cancer. I added a nice angel decoration that had a breast cancer ribbon on it and a saying. I am currently watching the hoarders show on A and E, I in no way want to be like this ever and am determined to have one of those extremely clean, organized houses before we start a family!

I've gotten better about buying in most respects, expecially clothes, except when it comes to spiritual and textile antiquities on Ebay... And items to recycle artwork from my favorite thrift stores... And cool handmade things I find on Etsy...

I've really cut back on clothes, though!
