29-Day Giving Challenge

Replies to This Discussion

Ok, I've been away from the internet and neglecting this group. I changed the schedule again and I'm taking this week and challenging everyone with incorporating SMILE into your giving theme this week.

(Hint, hint: See Cause of the Month...)

Give with a smile!

Smile! I love this one.
A smile is a small gift with a huge impact.
Watch the video Smile a while which I added. Plenty of smiles for you to share.
Keep smiling

I volunteered at my grandson's school today, as I do every Friday.
I consciously smiled all day as I was there, I made eye contact with as many as I could and genuinely smiled my heart at them!
Many were not so seemingly happy to me. Many admitted to being tired, or having a hard week. I wished them a happy weekend, and most broke out then, with a smile. I found myself so happy and walking down the hall smiling when no one was even inb my presence, I was sincerely happy just to be there and to be of service!

The longest word in the english language is SMILES! There is a mile between the 1st s and the last s,.which brings me to my story.
I had to go to the Post Office this morning.I arrived 10minutes before opening time to find a short queue - about 5 people. Two ladies were complaining bitterly about having to stand in queues. Ismiled and said "I have found that if one starts chatting the waiting doesn't seem so long." In next to no time we were all chatting about various subjects. When the doors finally opened the two that were complaining sad "Wow! That certainly din't seem a long wait" I am sure the post office staff were pleasantly suprised to be greeted by 15+ smiling faces for a change. Yes, the queue had grown while we were chatting.

with just a little nudge you were able to "turn those frowns upside down" :-D great give to the ladies, yourself, and the post office staff. Hugs, Dawn PS love the opening joke!

I love this! What a wonderful gift for the postal staff, whose customers, day after day, only want to run in and out, without a kind word or smile. You gave them the gift of a great start to a great day, as well as a gift to the growing and grumbling queue.

Sure, I smiled at people ... giving smiles and receiving smiles is the best ...

I also gave to "Operation Smiley." I know Lubabat will do great things with the money. Did you see we've already gotten to the $500 goal? I figured that was no reason to stop giving to the cause though. : )

this was kind of a hard one for me. not because i don't ordinarily smile - in fact i smile so much that i was once nicknamed "Smiley" by co-workers - but i had a hard time coming up with something beyond what i do on a daily basis. then yesterday while i was at the Renaissance Festival, a VERY inebriated man requested that i have my picture taken with him (why, i don't know, i wasn't in costume or anything). so i put my arm around him and smiled real big. i bet he's going to spend days trying to figure out who i am and why he has a picture of me LOL.

Oh Dawn, what a greaqt give! I can just imagine this man's reaction whne he tries to remember who he was with and should he know you. You have started my day off with a great big grin just thinling about it.

29 Gifts isn't necessarily about spending money. Your gift could be a conscious smile or opening the door for someone or a quick thank you note or specifically setting time aside to spend with your husband. I hope you get back into the swing of thin…

I understand your sentiment. It's one thing to deal with one's body as a child then as a teen and then as a young adult. But this last stage of change has thrown me for another loop. It's not like I didn't see it coming. After all, change is the onl…
