Me??
I don't know, Mary ... I think choosing a theme is the difficult part.
There are lots of words/ideas running through my head.

One idea: deer or dear (or whatever other way you can spell it)

You know, we could still throw in a challenging theme or two for December secret gives.....

genuine - feel like throwing one out there?
anyone else?

Lynn,
I think the idea is to do AT LEAST one secret give during the month of December. I you do one, you've met the december challenge ... but I know many of us like to challenge ourselves further ... when we did weekly themes we'd often try to fit the theme into several of our gives.

I love this! Is the idea to do just one secret or one a day or one a week? At this time of year in our neighborhood, we have done this several times. One year we got little stockings at the dollar store and put a couple of candy canes in them and then had a couple of the kids run around and leave them for all the neighbors. Then, one of the others made cookies and wrapped them in little baskets and the kids brought them around. The kids loved running around and leaving the gifts and they would ring the bell and run and if anyone happened to see them, they were so good at not telling who the gifts were from! It was a lot of fun and we all looked forward to it every year!

lynn and Eve - welcome to Gifting Outside the Box! We've just decided to try something different for the month of December, instead of our weekly themed gives. See the December Challenge above and let us know if you have any questions, comments or ideas for the group.

Love it! I'll do away with the weekly theme for now and we'll do the Holiday Lights Secret Give for December.

Thanks, Sharon - you're such an inspiration!

Here are a few suggestions:
Each person participating can choose one individual that they can bless anonymously.
It could be a cashier you see at the store you shop, a lady at church who always attends alone. It could be a neighbor who does not make it out much, maybe a relative who you have not connected with for some time, due to a squabble.
Hopefully it will be a person chosen to light up their life, one who needs lighting!

You can have others deliver the gift, I have even mailed things out of state to have another mail it for me to trick people up....Leave gifts at strange hours on porches by night!
Have fun, do not spend a fortune, but try to see if you can brighten days and if you are lucky, you may may be able to see their glow!

Secret gift....sounds intriquing... I like it... How would it work? We leave a secret gift for someone known or stranger and post what we did?

oh, I like the idea of "secret giving" for December.

monthly or weekly theme works for me

I don't know about the others, Mary, but I haven't outgrown the group. I like trying to come up with something to meet the challenge themes. And every time we have done a challenge there have been a decent number of replies on it ... I think part of the problem is just for the challenger to remember when it is their turn; they may need to be sent a reminder a couple days before so that they can then get their idea to us (still, I tried sending a reminder last week and it didn't help). ???
