Hi all I thought it would be a great idea to post non-material giving ideas here. If you have an idea or have come across one on this site please add it here. Also if you get the idea from a Blog on here please add a link to that blog so it is easy for people to check it out!

I love the idea of giving hugs. a fellow giver J. Eric Murphy has a great video added to his blog about "free hugs" check it out.

Hi Stacy you just gave me a great nonmaterial giving. After doing my first 29 days I got lazy, and needed a boost to get back into the mode. So thank you for your email. This was a great giving!!!!!! Today I will start another 29 days. Connie

I think Non-Material Giving is as important as Material giving. Whether you give a smile, a hug or even words of incouragement it can make a big difference in someones life, and isn't that what all this is about?

A great way to give is to find one new person on this site that you haven't read their blogs before. Then, read take the time to read through their blog page and make a thoughtful comment. I know that when I read what others write to me it means so much.

I agree it does mean a lot when people write a comment. Its the careing for others that count.

For those so incline, I offer up prayers or offer to pray for someone who seems in need of it. Also, you be surprise how many people just to get a kind word now and then through out the day can be uplifting, I know, I love it when I get those. So those can be non-material. Great discussion idea here. Thanks

I like to let people out in traffic, and also see how many people I can get to smile back when walking at the grocery store or mall.

Here's one that we sometimes forget: Visit a nursing home or rehab center for the elderly. Nursing home residents often don't get as much company as they'd like, and they're so happy when someone visits, even if they've never met them before. If your schedule allows you to go during the day, it's a great time to visit because most visitors go in the evening after work. The residents' days can seem very long and it's a pleasant break for them to have a visitor.
Right before I started the 29 days, an elderly friend broke her hip and was in a rehab center. I visited several times and it really lifted her spirits. Fortunately for her, she's improved enough to be released to live with family!
