29-Day Giving Challenge

Hey everyone!
I am Sharon Diehl of Woodstock Ga and a founding member of Operation Teddy Bear Care-which got so big on 29 gifts we split off and started a new website!
My life is so busy lately and we are starting quilting classes to teach and sew the 100 quilts for the Operation Teddy Bear Care kids in So Africa the 1st of July! Our goal is to make and collect 100 quilts by winter 2010, as alot of the kids are sleeping under newspapers.
I am psyched!
The 1st one came in from Dawn

If you know anybody who would like to join us locally to learn and sew, press, cut or just talk and clean up-please contact me here!
If you or anyone you know would like to donate to the shipping and handling expenses-we will need every penny, as it cost $50.00 for every 5 pounds to South Africa!
We are using light weight batting and making child size quilts, to get the most efficient shipping, and looking yet for any company to sponsor us or get a discount on mailing over donations to a non profit organization. All Suggestions are welcome!
Help me get the word out and sign up in Operation Teddy Bear Care and then in the Quilting for Kids group to commit!
Much Love and in Service,
-sharon

Hi, Sharon. It's Mary, here in Houston, TX. I have many contacts who make quilts, including my 85 year old mom and I. I will commit to make some child-sized quilts from larger quilt remnants I have. For most cost effective shipping, can you give me the address to ship directly to your contact in South Africa, as part of the Quilting for Kids campaign. We also make teddy bears for various hospitals, causes, etc., and would be happy to donate some of those, as well.

All the best,

Mary

Hi Sharon. Love the quilt idea. 29Gifts would be happy to gift $50 toward shipping. Also, did you see Mbali's suggestion to contact South African Airlines.... to see if they'd be willing to take the quilts free? Seems like it would be worth some phone calls.

We are looking into all options and I know it will all come together by the time we ship, we are shooting for 100 quilts and next winter, which will be the beginning of summer here 2010. We have time to look into many options. Thanks for the support!

Hi Sharon, This is a great thing you are doing, I have been a quilter for years, You need to look for
your local quilting bees in your community, they are always ready to help when they are asked. Ladies
love to get together & sew for a good cause. I will help you also, Bonnie

Gabrielle, I am a high school teacher and my experience is that there are very few 17 year old girls out there that are as wise and mature as you. I wish I had the insight you have when I was your age --shoot, when I was 27! It takes most women so l…

I only gave a small gift today as I spent most of it sequestered in my home cleaning. I actually woke up in a panic that I had forgotten to give yesterday! Then I remembered that I did actually give a bottle of Prosecco to my friends as a thank you…

Well, I lost track of where I was in round two, which is to say, I wasn't doing a very good job of self-care! I recently had a reading with Mbali. I was very frazzled going into it. Had a lot going on in several directions. Then the house phone sta…
