Comment by rocken nana wwt on April 26, 2012 at 2:01pm also if you let the pan cool the bacon will gel up and you can just grab the corners of the aluminum foil and throw it all away. It doesn't splatter in the oven and you don't need to turn them over. I can't tell the difference. You can heat them in the microwave when you take a wrapped pkg. out and 50% power for about 45 sec.
Comment by rocken nana wwt on April 26, 2012 at 1:57pm I have been giving to people hints and idea's. Like to hull strawberries, use a straw and go up from the bottom. Then just grab the green on top and put in a compost or throw away. You could feed them to hogs and maybe chickens also. My other big hint is frying bacon in the oven. Turn the oven to 400, put aluminum on a cookie sheet, make sure to go up the sides. Then put the bacon on in slices and it will fry up nice and crisp. It takes 15 to 20 min. to get them done. That depends on how you like your done. Mine I put in for 18 then take some off that are done and put the rest back in the oven for a few. Than I take them off and put them on paper towels or you can use a paper sack to catch the grease. That's what we used when I was growing up was sacks. Another way to recycle paper sacs. I then take the bacon in about 5 pieces and wrap them in wax paper and put them in a freezer bag. When I need bacon for a salad or breakfast, I just reach in and grab one of the wrapped bacon. Living by myself, 4 or 5 pieces are plenty.

Comment by carelia on February 16, 2012 at 4:24pm sweetpealarson, yes, I had luck with that. :) I did it online. In fact, we had a delivery yesterday - one company delivered (we're in that "it could take 6-8 weeks before everyone knows" transition time so it was not unexpected) but the SECOND company put a hang-tag on the door saying they knew we'd opted out and had contact info in case we changed our minds. Not thrilled with a hang-tag but it's WAY less paper than a book.
Trying to stop the phone books from being delivered. I have called and gone online and they still come. Has anyone had any luck with stopping the deliveries?

Comment by Thia on April 8, 2011 at 11:41am Good one, Thia!
I recently started giving plastic shopping bags and boxes to a friend who runs estate sales, to bag her customers' purchases. I try to remember to take my reusable shopping bags with me, but still forget them once in awhile. I feel a little better knowing that Rhonda can reuse them for her business.
I also included a lot of bags with the Houston Food Bank donation I made on Monday, along with a stash of packaged utensil sets from fast food places.
