29-Day Giving Challenge

'Tis two weeks before Christmas and all through this site,
Everybody keeps giving to their hearts delight.
Some challenges hang on a wing and a prayer,
In hopes that their gives will bring others, 'Good Cheer'.

Gals in their curlers and guys in their caps.
Are racking their brains over what gifts to wrap.
As everyone gathers, there arises such chatter,
About this give or that give and how much they matter.

Away to each blog, each member will visit,
With so much excitement to read what is in it.
For some the moon's rising, for others it sets.
Whatever the time zone, there are needs to be met.

There are charities, families, neighbors and bosses,
And strangers who've suffered such terrible losses.
The tally grows higher than a rooftop or steeple,
As more and more giving, keeps challenging people.

Especially now, in this holiday rush,
There's so much to do that some need a push.
There are gifts delivered with a ribbon or bow,
To those who have sunshine, while others have snow.

The overall theme is to pass on good will,
And share it with others through our virtual quill.
To give of ourselves, is the best gift to share,
And the ultimate reason for why we are here.

As we faithfully meet, day after day,
To share our gifts in this unusual way,
Let the joy of Christmas remain in your hearts,
And continue this challenge as another year starts.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year !!!
Blessings, Effie

Thanks to all for your kind replys and encouraging words to let me know maybe I should try to keep writing poems. It is my passion and I can't take credit for them as they are divinely inspired. All I do is take dictation. Blessings and joy at Christmas, Effie

I didn't watch the lastest video. I would also imagine that they would want the avalanche of mail to stop. Isn't it amazing what a group of kind caring people can do to boost a kid when he is so sick.

Great gift! I'm sure your son really appreciates the time you spent with him, even more than the food.

This is an amazing way to start your challenge! I'm sure it made her day. Many hostess' and greeters don't get the credit they deserve. My 9-yr old daughter pointed this out to me just last week. She made a point to approach the greeter at our loc...

A quiet Sunday with only a trip to Whole Foods as activity. Nice. My gift to myself was the time to read the whole New York Times this morning- even the magazine. I hung around the house in my jammies reading and resting until noon. My DH made me ...

Thank you so much. It was nice to see the video. I also noticed that the family requested for people to stop sending cards at this point. I can totally understand how they want to spend their last few days with him, not sorting through mail. I'm s...

I love this idea! What a wonderful give. I am going to use this for christmas presents this year. I wanted to be able to give gifts with meaning instead of something that will sit on a shelf or get lost in a drawer. Thank you so much. Bless you, Patt
