Long story short, Kandace died this morning, she was 17. She had undiagnosed illnesses (chronic) and her doctor was convinced it was "all in her head" (her tests were inconclusive), and her family believed the dr. I spoke with her online at length about 2 months ago and she was very frustrated that no one would help her, and that her own family did not believe her- I gave her what advice I could but there is only so much that you can do online, in a different state, when it is someone else's child. Since she was a minor, she could not change drs or get a second opinion without her parent's consent, and they didn't believe she was sick so they refused.
Her actual condition was discovered too late to help her. It's especially sad since it would have been treatable and probably would have saved her life, had it been discovered early enough.
So prayers/good energy/light/etc for her, and for her family to forgive themselves for this horrible mistake and find peace. And for her dr to change his ways so this does not happen again (it's unfortunately all too common with people that have invisible illnesses).

Hugs, Dawn
Permalink Reply by Barbara Quin - Prayer Cafe Mgr on April 16, 2012 at 5:41pm I am so sorry to hear of this - it is very sad that no one would listen to her - and a lesson to everyone who learns of this story - trust your children when they say something is wrong - even in the case of Cry Wolf (and I'm not implying this was the case here), there comes a time when the Truth must be known. Parents need to keep communication going with their children, no matter their age - and to pay attention to how they act, speak, behave - pay attention to what they do and whether there's any change in their routines. When someone is ill with a mystery illness, even if it's "psychological," there is treatment available to help them - and people, when you have something bothering you, don't stop telling until someone listens - until someone helps! If you have neices, nephews, grandchildren, step-children - pay attention to them! Don't let their preoccupations with their games and phones and gadgets keep you from knowing who they are, so you will never be in this position of self-blame and wondering if you could have done more!
Blessings, Grace, and Forgiveness to the family of Kandace - and relief in knowing she has transcended the illness and is now in a place of perfect Peace and Wholeness...
