Give in full measure!

Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
I have been giving for many years and have witnessed the power of giving. I know I could do more and that is why I am joining.
What I'd most like to receive:
That private rush of knowing that by my simple acts I have brightened someone's day or made the world a better place.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
Our library has selected it for the One Book-One Community read and I saw it listed. By the time I had read through Day One of the book, I knew this was something I needed to do.
About me:
In April 2010 I retired after 32 years of public service. I was completely burned out. Since retiring, I have looked for ways to fill others needs. Sometimes I feel a little driftless and hope that by joining this effort, I will have more focus in my giving.

Today's Best Give

Posted on April 15, 2011 at 2:00pm 7 Comments

I have been running all day giving to as many people as I could think of, but there was one give that was the best.  Yesterday, while I was at knitting, Cathy, the woman who is so giving, was admiring the ribbon yarn I was using to knit a scarf for Comfort Scarves-Pittsburgh.  I had found this yarn at Tuesday Morning.  It has a beautiful gold metallic thread running through it, which just…

I am back

Over the weekend, I went with my husband to visit family and friends in Houston.  Too many good things have happened since my last post to list them all so I will just report on a special moment I had today.

This afternoon, I went to my bi-weekly knitting group meeting.  One of our members is a 50+ year old woman with Down's Syndrome.  She is a little difficult to understand, but I have found that it is well worth the effort.  She can knit, crochet and do embroidery very well, but…

Day Forty-Six

Posted on April 5, 2011 at 7:00am 3 Comments

To help out my husband, bought weed-n-feed for our front lawn and spread it before the rain started.  Hopefully it will help stem the tide of weeds and crab grass we fought all last summer.

In the afternoon, went to visit Edith.  We had a nice visit.

A good giving day!

Day Forty-Five

As part of my on-going spring cleaning, I came across the dress that I wore in my brother's wedding almost ten years ago.  It is a very pretty gown.  I have not worn it since and, even though I would like to think I will, I know the odds of me ever wearing this dress again for any event is unlikely.  It is still stylish and for a girl with a more adult figure, it would make a very pretty prom gown.

Last week, I walked past a storefront in the mall where they house prom gowns.…

I miss you here on the 29 gifts blog and think of you often.  I hope you will "stop on by" and let us know how you are.

May today there be peace within.  May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be.  May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others.  May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.  May you be content with yourself just the way you are.  Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.  It is there for each and every one of us."
