As I noted in my Day 28 blog, I decided to go out with a bang. I spent yesterday smiling at everyone I met. I have to admit, there were fewer people as the day went on, so it lost some of its excitement factor. Still, I think it even made a difference to my kids to have me smile as much as I could when I looked at them, too.
Today was Day 29, and my plan for the final day was to say something nice to everyone I met ... and then I ended up being home for far more of the day…

Yesterday (Day 27), my husband came home nearly an hour late. This isn't hugely unusual, but it is usually frustrating for me -- especially because the kids get upset when they're not expecting it. Still, I try to be at least somewhat gracious about it as long as he shows up on time on Wednesdays. I call Wednesdays our "chaos days" because they are so jam-packed. My father-in-law is traveling this week, so I invited my mother-in-law over for dinner tonight. She still isn't settling into our town (they moved here from the opposite coast about two years ago), so she would otherwise spend this time all alone at home. She isn't an adventuresome eater -- at all -- so I made sure to cook something she'd eat. In fact, I went for a "special treat" meal for everyone: breakfast for dinner. YUM!

Today, we had an unexpectedly free morning, so the kids and I went to this cute little art shop that lets you do "drop-in" art projects.
