Day 6 + 7

Posted on November 23, 2009 at 8:15am 0 Comments

I bought my mom a scarf because she'd been looking for one with gray in it. And I addressed some envelopes to help with fundraising for an organization with which I volunteer. http://circleoftapawingo.org/

day 4 + 5

Yesterday I had to buy part of my grab bag gift that will be thrown into the mix at our Thanksgiving family grab bag. Yes, Thanksgiving grab bag. I bought a "FEED" bag at Whole Foods. It's $10 and its a donation to provide 100 meals to hungry kids. It unzips and becomes one of those reusable grocery bags. Today I gave a small tip to the woman at the bakery who sold my a blueberry muffin this morning.

Day 2 + 3

On Day 2 I gave a co-worker a compliment. I went to her desk and told her I didn't want to make her self-conscious, but I could hear her hitting the phones and I was really impressed with all her cold-calling. On Day 3, I attended a party a friend threw to showcase her handmade jewelry, even though I felt like I was running around like crazy after work and fell asleep on the subway (for a stop or two, with my mouth open, no doubt). I bought a pair of earrings that she made. I am excited about… Continue

Nursing Assumptions

Posted on November 16, 2009 at 5:20pm 2 Comments

I offered my seat on the subway to a nurse. She didn't want it, though she was gracious about it. I thought she might have been on her feet all day, sensible white shoes and all. Turns out, she got out at my stop, which is right near a hospital complex. Perhaps she was just starting her shift. At least I tried. I will address a few envelopes to aid in fund-raising for a charity in which I am involved.

Support our Cause of the Month
In November, we're sponsoring a cause that has been started by fellow giver, Lubabat. We are so deeply touched and impressed by Lubabat's strength of character & spirit. Lubabat was diagnosed with MS in the mid 90s and then in August of 09, she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Her reaction has been so inspirational - she is thriving through giving. She is hosting a Christmas Give and her theme is "going small to make a big impact" We have named her our November Cause of the Month and would be grateful for your support!

Happy giving!

P.S. Don't miss our handy 29-Day Giving Calendar or our cute Gift Note to accompany your gifts.
