Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
I am also in a rather dark/down time in my life and need to shake myself out of the way I'm thinking. I don't want to dwell anymore in my fear, and this sounds like exactly what I need to do right now.

Also, I keep running into it everywhere. I think Someone's trying to give me a hint!
What I'd most like to receive:
In all seriousness?

A safe place to live that's big enough for me and my family to rent.

Enough money to pay off all of my debt.

A gallery relationship where I can consistently show my photographs and paintings.

Stuff for the new baby coming next year.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
All over, one internet posting from a friend and then on Craigslist
About me:
I live in Los Angeles, CA with my daughter, sister, husband, a dog and two cats and a great deal of art. I'm a photographer/writer/painter/occasional filmmaker by night when I'm not working my dayjob. I also run a small independent press that specializes in alternative thought/religion and genre books. I'm currently expecting my second child in April/May of next year.

On the Hard

This has been the hardest week so far.

The house we thought we were going to be able to rent...the landlord changed her mind and decided not to rent to us after all, after assuring us everything was fine.

I am heartbroken.

It was hard to stay on the challenge. But I took my sister and my daughter to Disneyland on Saturday and on Sunday, I had time and smiles for my daughter. Tonight, I'm putting together a bag of art supplies I never use for the girl at my daughter's school who's an aspiring… Continue

The Experiment so far

It's been very interesting and yes, challenging so far. I've managed to give smiles to strangers and kind words as well, every day, if nothing else. I've given away things that certainly have gone to a better home than me hanging on to them for no real reason that I can tell now.

Little changes have happened. Little gifts in return that show me there's certainly something here, something to this grand experiment. The shift in consciousness alone has been very needed and necessary.

I'm glad thi… Continue

Hi Erin I am sorry to hear that. And Yes what if you were to start with letting go the judgement about yourself! Thanks for your vulnerability in sharing this Mbali

Mbali, this is such a pertinent post for me right now. I'm struggling with forgiveness and resentments I hold against someone right now. I know, rationally, that it is hurting me far more than it will ever hurt her... I can't let go yet. I'm working…
