I loved the audio version of Eat Pary Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. It's read by the author and you can almost see her sitting across for you with a cup of coffee, telling you the story. I highly recommend it.

the internal struggle

This weekend has been marked by an internal struggle, trying to figure out how to deal with my family. A few years ago, I received notification via e-mail that my grandmother had passed away. This was received days after the fact, and my parents called me accusingly, why haven't you called with condolences? I expressed my hurt and anger, and requested that it not happen again.

It did. I suppose that this was predictable, since they seem to do things they know will upset me and then call me craz… Continue

round??

I have decided that it is too much to try toi count the rounds, and the days. sonce my goal is for a new habit, i have simply decided that counting these for the rest of my days is beyond my capacity.

I am beginning to understand the concept of St. Francis' "make me an instrument of thy peace." How simply being a calming influence in a room, on a street, in the grocery store can shift the balance toward tolerance and peace.

This is on gift i strivew to give continually. not that i always succe… Continue

Day 29 of Round two

my head is in a blur. It is so easy to get into the rhythm of day to day... this challenge has really helped me to be more mindful of every day. not perfection, mind you, but improvement. :)

Holy Cow it's day 29!

It went unbelievably fast...What have I learned? I have learned that I impact the world around me in a million small ways. Being mindful of it is the tough part.

Today, I gave my hubby a dozen roses, to say thank you for comforting me and talking with me and making the effort to meet me halfway. I lucked out with that one, i'll tell ya.

I have received more than i have given. The process of being mindful has opened my eyes to all the blessings i receive, too. In a day or two i will officially… Continue

Honoring my Nephew

I am nearing the end of my first round, and today was the best give yet. It is a selfish thing, because i really wanted to be there, but I attended my nephew's Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony today. What a great kid! I would not have missed ot for the world. I am so glad i went, even though it's not the easiest of drives and i have tests and papers due this week, it was so very worth it to support him and to Celebrate all the hard work and dedication that he has put into this.

It struck me,… Continue

Hello- I thought this was nice for everyone regardless of religion or beliefs. Have a peaceful, beautiful day of the spirit.

A holiday affirmation:

I embrace the holiday season with joy and an open heart. I look at this time of year through the eyes of a child full of excitement. I gift others with kindness and a sincere smile. I feel at peace and view my life as the miracle that it is.

Thanks for the nice comment on my last blog post. This is positive reinforcement and encouragement that I may need on a down day. I am hoping that your patience and perserverance (called Sabr in Arabic) will get you through the fearful times and that everything will turn out well for you in the end. Also I love your header quote. Happy giving.
