i am a batter licker myself (as well as a frosting snitcher). and i let my children lick the beaters and bowls too with no ill effects. acceptable risk, in my opinion. who wants to live a completely sterile life? not me. Hugs, Dawn

Yes, I am a cake batter licker. : ) oh, and never got sick from it or knew anyone that did. I had a conversation about this same topic with some other daycare providers ... one let her kids lick the batter, and the other had never let her kids do ...

we are a family of batter lickers. lol, none of us ever got sick, none of my kids ever got sick... it just isn't the same if there aren't kids bantering about who is licking what!

"Today I decided to put all my lists to the side and just be in the day. Why do we struggle so? " Good question Ann - thank you for asking it, it's a question I need to sit with at this point in my life.

sometimes some quiet time is just what the doctor ordered. i am glad that you were able to give that to yourself today. encouragement often comes from unexpected sources. speaking of which, i really appreciated the support you sent my way. Hugs, Dawn

Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
Because it felt right when I saw the video. Because two years ago, I walked away from a giant oil company, where I was a technical writer and marketing person, in search of a life with more substance. I want to bring more good into the world. I know this sounds huge and unobtainable, but I've never did anything the easy way. What better way to begin than to be an example of the good I'm seeking.
What I'd most like to receive:
I'd like my agent to sell my novel. I'd like to share my passion of writing with others. I want a continuing growth in my peace and faith.

Day 2 Round 10 What Did We Do Before All The Safety Rules?

What in the world did we do before all the safety rules came along? I thinking of one in particular.

Don't eat raw cake batter!

Understand I can see all the reasons for this warning, and as a mother, I enforce it with no exceptions. But as my granny used to say: What you don't know most of the time won't hurt you. It is the word 'most' we stress about now. Once of my best memories from childhood is mixing cake batter in my granny's small kitchen with my younger brother. Granny gave us a… Continue

Day 1 Round 10

Today I decided to put all my lists to the side and just be in the day. Why do we struggle so? The give in this was lots of time to daughter with problems. I researched a project I'm to begin soon. In this research, I had to tame the part of me that judges and give compassion to the situation. I took time to listen to my neighbor, really listen. I gave my ideas to someone who was planning a church class. I gave time to myself to be still. I stopped to breath today. Not exciting stuff, but big en… Continue

July Is Off And Running

Who said you can't have a vacation at home? We, like most of the country, are feeling the money crunch, so our annual short camping trips have been curtailed for a while. Ah, but does that defeat us? Nope. We set up camp yesterday in our big spacious backyard, complete with decent size kiddie pool, spacious tent, and the fire bowl.

We swam most of the day, ate dinner, and invited the neighborhood kids to make smores over the fire. At one point I had seven kids running through our yard, catching… Continue

June In A Nutshell

This month has been wonderful. I've had many writing successes. My novel, Beautiful Wreck, made it to the semi-finals in Amazon's novel 2009 Breakthrough Novel Contest. There were 10,000 entries. Mine made it to the top ten before being knocked out. I guess you could say it's kind of like being in the last five couples on Dancing With The Stars. ;) This has generated some interest from publishers. My agent is working her tail off. I received an invitation to speak in the month of August on Sea I… Continue

Much To Do and Hot Weather

Since I last wrote, I've had exciting news. At the end of May, I found out that my novel, Beautiful Wreck, was a semi-finalist in Amazon's Breakthrough Novel Contest. The contest begins with 10,000 entries. My novel made it all the way to the last fifty and I believe the last ten. I have a publisher interested and my agent is working her head off. Good stuff for a writer. I have been asked to speak at Scribbers Writing Retreat on St Simons Island this August. I will also speak again next year. M… Continue

When I ran across this, I almost cried! My Granny sent this valentine to me-but back then it was a birthday card...when I was in Elementary school I still have it! Now I am sharing it with all my friends here!

That is one lucky cat to have found someone who is as caring as you are. I bet he'll be back to his new "safe haven". Even if he will not be your forever friend, at least now, when he needs it the most, he has you for protection and caring thoughts.
