Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
I just fininshed reading 29 Gifts and before I was through I started the first of my 29 days. I have always tried to do random acts of kindness, but never before with commitment. I am already feeling so blessed!
What I'd most like to receive:
I want the knowledge that my acts of giving will influence others to also give.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
I fortuitously found the book highlighted on Borders.com. It looked like something that would interest me, so I ordered it. I had no idea it would affect me the way it has.
About me:
I'm the mom of two wonderful adult children, they are the most precious gifts I've ever received. I'm a pediatric nurse, I spend my work days on the phone giving advise to parents. I spend my free time reading, knitting, and playing Scrabble- my addiction!

Day 16, Lunch and Big Y

Posted on February 4, 2010 at 3:44pm 1 Comment

I treated a co-worker to lunch today. It was an effort not allowing her to pay me back. I told her she was my "Designated Givee" today and couldn't pay me for the lunch. The woman in front of me in line was new to the store, and didn't even know what the special coins were, so when she cashier asked…

Day 11- Starbucks Surprise

Posted on January 30, 2010 at 7:17pm 3 Comments

I was a little early for a get together with a friend today so I went to Starbucks and used the WIFI to check out 29 Gifts. I remembered an earlier post about leaving a note in Cami's book in a book store and I thought I'd try it in Starbucks. I folded $5 in a piece of paper and wrote"Surprise, this is a gift for the next person who sits here. Visit 29 gifts.org." I left it on the table. I hope it made someone's day. I know it made mine.

Day 7, first day on the blog!

Posted on January 26, 2010 at 3:29pm 2 Comments

Although I've always tried to give, I didn't officially start a commitment to give until 7 days ago. I had just finished reading Cami's book. So far I've given gift certificates for Dunkin Donuts coffee to strangers (What a great way to start the day!), made a special CD for a co-worker, spent $3 entering another co-worker in the Super Bowl pool, gave a copy of 29 Gifts to a friend, loaned my copy to another friend, brought in cookies for my office, and sneakily talked my son into giving a cup… Continue
