- Why I'm choosing to give:
- I want to nurture my awareness of the talents and creativity and kindness that I have inside of me by sharing with others. I also want to realize that I have so many things I don't really need that others can use. I don't need to cling to so many objects anymore.
- What I'd most like to receive:
- I don't have any expectations of what I want to receive in exchange for giving. Just a good feeling that I have made someone or something else better, happier, appreciated, etc.
- How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
- I think it was on the Barnes and Noble ordering form when I was purchasing Stones into Schools by Greg Mortenson. When I saw the book that Cami wrote, I went to the book link, then the website, and immediately ordered it. So, good work, Barnes & Noble!
- About me:
- My name is Barbara. I was born in The Bronx, NY into an Italian-American family. I have lived in the Boston, MA area for the past 32 years, and almost all of that time with my husband Nick. We have a son, 20 yrs. old and a daughter, 18 yrs. old. They are all amazing people in my life. I have centered my life around them all and at the same time, have worked at cool part time jobs, studied the design of and created beautiful gardens, have been designing and making fun and colorful quilts, and the other loves in my life are my dogs, Nadia and Ginger, golden retrievers. My day begins with them at my side, always full of love and joy for everyone. I have been working at a good friend's dog grooming salon for the past 6 months and although the work is physically straining and not the most glamorous sort of place to spend long days at, I find it to be one of the most satisfying and fun things I have ever done! I love being around all the different breeds of dogs, love to handle them, and the great part is seeing them arrive all dirty and messy and leave with their happy owners all shiny clean and excited to see their masters! It's always a joyful time for the dogs when they see their owners show up - the simplicity of their existence is nice to be a part of.
