DAY 11

I took the kids to see Santa. Our local park had a Christmas in the park where you can take a horse carriage ride to see Santa. It was a cold rainy and windy evening. It was so cold I almost hesitated loading us up in the car. When we got there they had lots of fun crafts for the kids to do. Also, we had hot chocolate and cookies to eat. They had forms to fill out regarding info about your child such as name of teacher, favorite toys, any pets, etc. We didn't know what to expect since this was…See More

Day 1, 2, 3, and 4

Day 1I found this website while I was at work on my break and decided to give it a try. I had no idea what I would do or give but I also wanted to see if it would come naturally. I didn't want to be stressed out and worry that I have one more thing to do on my plate. So when I got off work Monday morning at 7 a.m. I walked into the house and was greeted by my two daughters who were very cheery and excited to see me. That felt so good. Normally my husband takes care of getting the kids ready for…See More

Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
To take the focus off of me and think about others. I have a tendency to dwell and worry about things and it does no good to do this. So by focusing on others I'm hoping I can retrain my brain and my soul to be more positive and grateful for what I have and to help others out.
What I'd most like to receive:
Inner peace and meaningful friendships.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
Thru Oprah's website
About me:
I'm a 36 year working mother/wife with 3 children. I'm at a point in my life where I feel lost and empty and I feel like I'm going through the motions. I'm trying to live in the moment but I can't help worrying about my future but I think that's what's holding me back. I often think what is my purpose and I'm desperately seeking the answer to that question. Am I where I'm supposed to be or is there another path that I should be on? Hopefully, I'm on the right path since it feels right to try something new and different.

Day 10

Posted on December 7, 2009 at 2:49am 3 Comments

My husband works at a childcare facility and one of his co-workers was short on cash and was needing some gas for her car. My husband called me up and asked if we had any gas money left on our grocery store fuel perks. I told him that we had over $4 off for each gallon. So on his break he drove her car to the gas station and filled up her gas tank for free. She was so thankful and she called me up later and told me that she was so appreciative that at anytime that my husband and I would like to… Continue

I'm behind on my postings. I'm technicially on day 14 and using my trusty little journal to help me remember to document. I gave a baby gift to my friend Trish. A cute green and cream sweat suit. She had a baby girl named Olivia Kay.

Day 8

Posted on December 7, 2009 at 12:31am 2 Comments

I gave $10 to the ASPCA today. They were going door to door collecting donations for animals that have been treated inhumanely. I almost didn't answer the door since I had worked night shift and I was sleeping but my daughter got me out of bed. When I opened the door the gentleman went into his long speech and I wanted to say "How much do you want" so I can get back into bed but I thought about 29 days and I gave him the respect and listened to his speech and let him finish. Then I got back… Continue

Support our Cause of the Month
In November, we're sponsoring a cause that has been started by fellow giver, Lubabat. We are so deeply touched and impressed by Lubabat's strength of character & spirit. Lubabat was diagnosed with MS in the mid 90s and then in August of 09, she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Her reaction has been so inspirational - she is thriving through giving. She is hosting a Christmas Give and her theme is "going small to make a big impact" We have named her our November Cause of the Month and would be grateful for your support!

Happy giving!

P.S. Don't miss our handy 29-Day Giving Calendar or our cute Gift Note to accompany your gifts.
