Why I'm choosing to give:
I believe that, if those of us who have a little extra time, money, smiles, energy, hugs or capacity for anything gave away that extra to those who have a little less than what's necessary, the world would be easier for everyone
What I'd most like to receive:
A big HumanKind Media community filled with subscribers, writers, collaborators, and friends all engaged in giving and healing the world
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?

Reflections on re-upping

Though I stopped posting somewhere in July when there was just too much going on, I managed to hold the 29-Day Giving Challenge in my intentions. I tried to read the posts which I enjoy so much every week and I kept giving, trying not to "score" myself on whether it was sincere, enough, wise, or clumsy, rushed or elegantly-presented.

I had some amazing experiences while giving, and I had a few that backfired. Sometimes an intended gift isn't received as a gift or confuses the receiver. Sometime… Continue

Round 2, Day 2 and 3

Day 2: Patience. I gave patience everywhere I didn't have any. My son seemed particularly difficult yesterday in the face of some work we had to do and my story was starting to sound like "he doesn't appreciate what we've done for him yadda yadda yadda," and instead I backed off and waited and later in the morning it was a piece of cake to get in and get it done (we even laughed a little.) I had the exact same experience with a client (which makes me wonder what was going on with me yesterday) w… Continue

Falling off, getting back on: Day 1 (2nd round)

I am sorry to say I fell off my 29-days around day 24. With the push at the end of the school year in so many directions, my own blog, and my real job, I lost track of my intention around Day 24, and though I would think about writing and finding something during the day that I gave, it didn't feel like the Challenge, because I wasn't holding the intention. Though I have feelings of guilt, remorse, and failure about this, this morning I'm actually a little bit excited about it.

In one of my fav… Continue

Catching up: 13-21

Where did the time go? I have my doubts that this will be interesting reading. You can skip this whole thing if you'd like. I'm really just wanting to keep track of my days of the challenge, so I don't forget. I can't promise any good writing here :--) or I'll never get this written.

The 29-Day giving challenge made all the difference for my experiences of the past week. I managed to hold the intention every day, but not the intention to write about what happened, unfortunately. Here are the hi… Continue

Day 10, 11, and 12

Wow! Today's day 12 already. I am so grateful I started this when I did. This is the craziest time for me, travelling, back for finals and my son's graduation, family visiting and a big party on Sunday which is also Father's Day. It's normally too much for me and I would already be in semi-grumpy meltdown mode. But with the intention every morning, I'm looking for ways to be giving while I'm doing all this and it's looking much more open and easy.

The past two days I've been patient with my old… Continue

Oh boy, what a day. This giving challenge has given me, not only an awareness of what I give through the day, or how much other people give, but how much giving brings you into the present. How it forces you to LIVE every day, rather than only being…
