Friday, Jan 28, I bought my mother two new belts, and I went to a different Walmart! A gift and something new...I also brought a coffee in (again) for my bestie. Saturday, I cleaned and cooked and had a "game night." Both kids had friends over. It was the first time I've ever spent any time with my bestie's husband. (He's been on a sub for the last six months...) So, that was definitely something new. I think everyone had a good time. Sunday, I taught Sunday School and hung out with my boyf for…See More

Yup, it's another snow day! Went to lunch with friends yesterday to a NEW Mexican restaurant. The food was awful, but it was something new... I also took the kids to their first yoga class even though it had been snowing for hours by then. Both kids had a great time, and I am so proud of myself for moving us towards becoming a more active family. Turn off the video games!! Going to try to make this a VERY productive day.... (Of course, it will involve a great deal of shoveling...)

It looks like tomorrow might be another snow day! This has been a crazy winter. Saturday I worked my BUTT off to pull off an incredible birthday party for my son. Then, as one of the fathers was leaving, he turned to my ex-husband and said, "Thank you for hosting." I didn't KILL ANYONE and if that isn't a gift, then I don't know what is. The kids loved the CD's I made for party favors. I really think every kid had an awesome time. And, my ex-husband met my boyfriend for the first time. It all…See More

Well, I didn't let quite as much time go by this time. Monday was Martin Luther King Day, and I took my mom and my daughter shopping and bought them lunch. Beckett and I watched Alice in Wonderland together in the evening. That was nice. Back to work on Tuesday....I made tacos for everyone for dinner - my mom and my boyf came over - and - I used bison meat instead of hamburger. I've never cooked with bison meat before - it was delicious. I will definitely use it every time I make tacos. Perhaps…See More

January 16th - EEK

Oh dear. I've let a lot of time go by... My last post was the 9th - a whole week ago. Is it at all possible to remember what I did all week? I don't think I was giving consciously. Monday, after work, I went to visit my boyfriend and my mom took the kids swimming. My mom was the one who gave a gift there! I do not really remember doing anything new, either. Tuesday, Sherri and I went to see The King's Speech - I bought the popcorn and sodas! Wednesday, we were all home in the snowstorm. Ummmm...…See More

OK, haven't written since Thursday... Friday... I brought my boyfriend some flowers because he made dinner for me! I'm not sure how much he appreciated them... He doesn't really drink, and he doesn't eat desserts. He said no one had ever brought him flowers before. I also spent time with him and his son without my kids - 1st time. So, I guess that counts as my something new. Friday was obviously not a stellar day for my January challenges. I can't think of anything I did at work...Oh, now I…See More

Yesterday, I gave a few gifts. I brought in a coffee for my BFF, I brought Munchkins for the students in my advisory, and I bought another friend some caramel bulls eye candy she likes. (She's very fit, so I can bring her candy. Most people do NOT want junk food!) However, I'm not sure I accomplished my goal of doing anything new, however, I did show To Kill a Mockingbird to two classes. I've never show that movie before. (OK - that's a stretch!) Gregory Peck will forever be Atticus to me, but…See More

Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
I am a complete believer in Cami's philosophy. I have long tried to have positive thoughts and give smiles and help whenever I can. Some people call it Karma, but it doesn't really matter what you call it. Although I have been practicing this philosophy for a long time, I am somewhat afraid of committing to 29 days. I don't know why. I don't want to fail. See - I'm already learning new things about myself!
What I'd most like to receive:
I have had a tough two years - although nothing like what Cami has been through. I feel I've lost some innocence and joy. I'm drained all of the time. I guess I'd like to gain energy, love, peace, patience, and hope. That's a tall order - isn't it?
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
I saw a short clip about a man who works at Borders who made it his New Year's Resolution. It was an advertising ploy , and it worked! I've bought the book - twice.
About me:
I am recently divorced with two children - ages 7 and 9. I am a high school English teacher in a public school. Books and reading are my passion in life. I am blessed to have many great friends, and usually enjoy the fact that I live in the smallest state in the country and bump into someone I know just about everywhere I go.

Hi thanks for the gift. I love reading your page. I am suppose to start my round 2 soon but my daughter broke her arm and that has filled my days for now so I will start soon. Did you know I am a girl scout leader too? Sometimes I love it, sometimes I don't. I have wrote about it in my blogs. Stay strong and don't let your ex-husband get you down. You are an amazing women!
