Creator, 29-Day Giving Challenge
Yesterday, I had my son gather all of his matchbox cars. We washed them all, he picked out 10 that he wants to keep and we gave the rest to the funniest little boy I have ever known, Isaac. He is 3 years old and LOVES cars and trucks. I hope he will get alot of use out of them and I know that my husband will be happy to NOT find them all over the yard when he goes to mow it.
Today, I gave of my time to babysit for a friend for a couple of hours. I also gave a handmade card with some much needed words of encouragement, pride, and love to my almost 16 year old son. We have been butting heads alot this school year, he has faced alot of new challenges in going back to public school, and really needs to hear those things from me, but is too cool to admit or let on. He doesn't talk to me a whole lot right now, so I thought that would be the least intrusive way to let him know those things.
One thing that I have noticed already (in only 3 days) is that every day I have tried to figure out and plan what I am going to give. I have been unsuccessful each time and then the answer will just hit me from out of nowhere - and it will not be anything that I was even remotely thinking of. Kinda weird eh? I guess the point is to stop trying to control it and just let it happen. Without forgetting though.
So today, I decided to clip some flowers from a bush in my yard, go for a walk and give the boquet to the first lady I met. Well, it didn't take long to find someone, but she could not speak English so the moment was kind of lost on her. At least I gave something away and she probably has never had someone walk up to her and hand her flowers before. Hopefully tomorrow will be easier - I think I already have it figured out.
Saturday which would have been day 1 of my challenge, I went to a fundraiser for our area food bank. It is called empty bowls houston. This give away for me was two fold. I made a bowl to donate and I gave a $25 donation. For the $25 donation I got a small (and I do mean small) bowl of soup, 1 muffin and a bottle of. Equivalent to what many people get in a day. Then we got to pick out a bowl from those that were donated. There was live music and craft demonstrations. It felt wonderful to give and I had been looking forward to going for weeks.
Today, my second day of the challenge, I wracked my brain all day trying to figure out what I can give. I don't get out alot so this challenge is going to be kind of hard. A friend was supposed to drop off some things for me today and I was going to give her two bottles of kitchen cleaner and 3 spray air freshners. I do not want them in my house as they are toxic and she is not yet at that place, xso I know that she will use them. She never came by so I am going to have to run out and deliver them anonomously to her doorstep. I love giveing things anonomously!!
Well, I am off ans will officially start this challenge tomorrow.
Anyone that can hlep me figure out ow to put awidget on my blog, PLEASE let me know! Thanks.
