Pom-Poms and Peace

You might be wondering what those two things have in common. Well, I will tell you. I ran across an organization called Pom-Pom International. They are located int he UK. Their mission is to promote peace around the world through the activity of making pom-poms. Why Pom-poms you ask? Because they are fun, whimsical, childish, and just plain fun. They can bring people together who speak different languages and have different cultures. The group is… Continue

Finally

my hair is back to the length that it was when I started on my road to growing it out for Locks of Love. 4 months it has been and I am finally back to where I started! I will make sure not to get it cut again. Just kidding. Tight now it is at the stage where it lays on my neckline and gets inside my shirt collar. I HATE that! One I get past this stage, I will be good to go though. Will let you know how I progress.

Very busy, but still giving

I have been very busy lately and hav had little time to blog. I am still giving though.

Saturday, I went to the local farmers market and I gave my friends the morsbags that I had made for them. We used them for our shopping at the market.

I also gave my brother ducks through World Vision for his birthday.

I have of course been giving alot of my time, but of course with the holidays, have been very busy with my own family and preparing for this semester of teaching classes.

Giving to the Less Fortunate

I have been giving alot of my time of late to our church's middle school youth group. I have been teaching them about solidarity and Catholic Social Teachings such as Rights of Workers. They have been sacrificing something for the past few weeks in order to give the money to charity. Tonight we counted the money ($130.00) and decided how to give it. they decided to buy ducks, malaria prevention and $490 worth of clothes and shoes (for only $35) for families in poor countries around the world thr… Continue

Green Give

If you have no use for those huge, bulky phonebooks that are good for nothing except as a child's booster seat, here is a way for you to never see them arrive on your doorstep again. Go to this website and opt out.

I've been holding out getting my hair cut so that hopefully it will qualify for Locks of Love. I think there is a length requirement. I hope I'm getting close because I need a new look to go with my new glasses (haha).

Day 2 and 3 give-away

Yesterday, I had my son gather all of his matchbox cars. We washed them all, he picked out 10 that he wants to keep and we gave the rest to the funniest little boy I have ever known, Isaac. He is 3 years old and LOVES cars and trucks. I hope he will get alot of use out of them and I know that my husband will be happy to NOT find them all over the yard when he goes to mow it.

Today, I gave of my time to babysit for a friend for a couple of hours. I also gave a handmade card with some much needed words of encouragement, pride, and love to my almost 16 year old son. We have been butting heads alot this school year, he has faced alot of new challenges in going back to public school, and really needs to hear those things from me, but is too cool to admit or let on. He doesn't talk to me a whole lot right now, so I thought that would be the least intrusive way to let him know those things.

One thing that I have noticed already (in only 3 days) is that every day I have tried to figure out and plan what I am going to give. I have been unsuccessful each time and then the answer will just hit me from out of nowhere - and it will not be anything that I was even remotely thinking of. Kinda weird eh? I guess the point is to stop trying to control it and just let it happen. Without forgetting though.

Today was my official first day with the challenge and it was . . . hard. The reason being that most days I don't leave my home. We homeschool and I have some other issues that right now are keeping me close to home. So I can tell that I am going to have to be very creative or my friendes are going to stop coming around for fear fof me giving them yet another thing.

So today, I decided to clip some flowers from a bush in my yard, go for a walk and give the boquet to the first lady I met. Well, it didn't take long to find someone, but she could not speak English so the moment was kind of lost on her. At least I gave something away and she probably has never had someone walk up to her and hand her flowers before. Hopefully tomorrow will be easier - I think I already have it figured out.

I finally got around to actually signing up for this challenge, although I joined in spirit and practice two days ago when I first came across this challenge. Because of computer problems and time issues, I am only now getting to start the challenge officially. I guess I will count these two days as extra days in my challenge (31 days instead of 29)

Saturday which would have been day 1 of my challenge, I went to a fundraiser for our area food bank. It is called empty bowls houston. This give away for me was two fold. I made a bowl to donate and I gave a $25 donation. For the $25 donation I got a small (and I do mean small) bowl of soup, 1 muffin and a bottle of. Equivalent to what many people get in a day. Then we got to pick out a bowl from those that were donated. There was live music and craft demonstrations. It felt wonderful to give and I had been looking forward to going for weeks.

Today, my second day of the challenge, I wracked my brain all day trying to figure out what I can give. I don't get out alot so this challenge is going to be kind of hard. A friend was supposed to drop off some things for me today and I was going to give her two bottles of kitchen cleaner and 3 spray air freshners. I do not want them in my house as they are toxic and she is not yet at that place, xso I know that she will use them. She never came by so I am going to have to run out and deliver them anonomously to her doorstep. I love giveing things anonomously!!

Well, I am off ans will officially start this challenge tomorrow.

Anyone that can hlep me figure out ow to put awidget on my blog, PLEASE let me know! Thanks.
