Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
Bringing my conscious attention to the process of giving will enhance my connection to life, to others and to my place in the world.
What I'd most like to receive:
Whatever is available and comes my way. I just want to feel open and receptive - and to trust the Universe with what comes to me.

About me:
I live in Tallahassee, Florida.

I'm a mom - I have three daughters (Molly, Anna and Susan) and I also raised my two older step-children. I've been married for 23 years and Joe is my very best friend.

I am an artist - I paint, draw, collage and sculpt. I am a writer. Two of my short stories have been published in journals and I hope to keep writing.

For 25 years I have been a member of Al-Anon Family Groups and it has made me a grateful person. I love working the 12 Steps and helping others do the same.

Life is all about the journey.

I'm so glad you enjoyed my tour of De Grazia's Gallery In the Sun. It's one of my favorite places on the planet. ;)
And thank you for that very nice compliment about my photos. I'm just head over heels in love with my digital camera. LOL

Retreat Report

Humility – pulling up to a Monastery and choosing to simplify my life for a few days was scary last year, and yet this year felt like a welcome relief. I have a tendency to pile things on my plate, to add mischief and misery to a life that is pretty well blessed. I work hard, I volunteer, I read, I write, I do art, I decorate for Christmas, I spend a lot of time with my family …and I sometimes get all of it tangled up into a big ball of nonsense.

The humility comes in the recognition that I can… Continue

Round 7, Day 29

On my final day of giving on this Round I was amazed to find myself giving $5 to a homeless man along the side of the road as I waited at a red light.

Years ago I used to feel very guilty, with all that I had, whenever I saw someone on the road with a sign. Sometimes that guilt compelled me to give them some money. Sometimes it compelled me to go buy them some food.

Yet, today, it was compassion and my own sense of "what can I give in the world?" that inspired me to give.

I am detached from m… Continue

Round 7, Day 28

Today the give was money. Not a lot, not tax deductible, not for credit.

Just anonymous giving in the Salvation Army buckets, Scout collections, St. Vincent de Paul Society and extra in the collection basket.

I hesitate blogging about it because the point is no credit. So it's not about that here - it's about noticing that a little bit is enough.

Round 7, Days 25-27

Thanksgiving was a wonderful day for us!! We had most of our family here ... and got to talk to those who couldn't be home.

We had delicious food, lots of laughter and catching up.

My gives:

Wednesday November 25: my daughter had a sinking spell when we were out and many of us were sitting around the table waiting for food. She really needed to go home, and I cheerfully got up from the table and took her. Sometimes these simple things get swept under the rug during bigger, more splashy times… Continue

Round 7, Day 24

Today I gave some time and attention to my daughter - and I helped her clean out her closet. We unpacked boxes, and bags and put away clothes and organized her books, CDs and memorabilia. She recently had to move back home and all of these boxes had filled her closet up so she had only an inch or two for clothes.

In about two hours we had done so much, gotten her organized and I could tell she felt all moved in and settled. It was a give that gave twice (or even three times) because I gave of m… Continue
