I am self-employed as a free lance writer and consultant. Previously, I had a career as a Registered Nurse for 15 years and then became a paralegal. I operated my own paralegal practice that focused on helping people in need get assistance with basic needs. Most of that work was done pro bono. I live in Charlotte, NC.

On October 15, the music community in my city came together to perform at a benefit for my dying friend. the admission fee was $20, with all proceeds going to medical and living expenses for my friend. The turn-out was tremendous and everyone that performed did an excellent job. Even though it had been a tough week for me finanacially, I gladly paid the $20. I have been away too long...

due to the hectic nature of this week, I have n ot been able to blog on this site. Giving has become my priority everyday. On Oct. 14, I encountered a friend of mine who is dealing with dying. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer several months ago and has already remained active much longer than his prognosis indicated. He has had a very difficult time dealing with the diagnosis. Expressing love for the less fortunate

Today I had the opportunity to do what was a very simple act but it had a profound effect on my day. I was in my neighborhood coffee shop when a mentally and physically challenged older African American gentleman limped inside. He was very jovial and smiling despite his condition. He spoke with a couple of people whom he seemed to be acquainted with. Then, unexpectedly, he turned to me and said, "I love you."
