Why I'm choosing to give:
This fits so perfectly with my own personal philosophy of generosity bringing happiness, contentment and abundance into our lives that I had to be part of it. I have always strived to be generous with my time, emotions, talents and resources and I truly believe that the greatest luxury in the world is the capacity to give. Its something we can all do regardless of our financial position and if more people subscribed to that philosophy the world would simply become a more beautiful place.
What I'd most like to receive:
I am far from wealthy, but to quote a song, "I've got all I need is that simple enough?" The gift that I would most like to receive that has eluded me is the enduring love of a good man. Other than that, I love beautiful things created by man or nature, sunsets and moonrises, stones and shells, trees, Gaudi's architecture - gifts from the heart matter more.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
from a work colleague
About me:
I am Australian, (in Brisbane) bohemian, creative, complex, soulful, intelligent, a deep thinker, emotional

Day 11 - Cleaning!

Saturday arrived and I had so much study to do for my upcoming exam so had planned to spend most of the weekend doing exactly that (poor kids miss out AGAIN).

I noticed my neighbour (I live in an apartment building) cleaning out her garage and since I wanted to take a break from study I went downstairs and gave her a hand to shift some stuff and bin some other bits. It was only half an hours work, but it was a good opportunity to get to know her a little better. I have lived there for almost 4… Continue

Day 10 - The Secret

Wow, time skips on by so fast these days, its been ages since I posted an update.

Day 10 and I was chatting via email with my Mum who lives in Victoria - (about a 2.5 hour flight from me) and she had mentioned something about 'The Secret'. I guess its one of those things that you either subscribe to its philosophies or not, depending on your own views on the world/universe/God etc, but its a book that I read and took some good things from. My gift today was a copy of this book, mailed to my Mot… Continue

Day 9 - Cat Food!!

Ok - well Day 9 arrived and I had decided that I wanted to do something significant to compensate for Day 9's lack-lustre giving performance.....SO - I was lying in bed early this morning willing the clock to turn backwards by an hour and I had my little kitten curled up near my chest purring contentedly when the clear image of what my gift today should be started to emerge from the fog that was my half-awake state. Cat Food! (Well I have given lots of people food so why not?)

I adopted my kitt… Continue

Day 8 - A nothing kinda day!

Wow, today was one of those 'nothing kinda days' where you are busier than a one-legged man in a butt-kicking competition, but you don't really feel like you have achieved anything at the end of it. My biggest concern was I got to the end of it with nothing note-worthy given to anyone. My cure for that (read justification) was to take stock of all the things that I have given today - so here I go!

- I gave my seat on the bus to a woman with a small child
- I let the guy in the green BMW into tr… Continue

Day 7 - Another Muffin!

Today I am feeling a little flat and so perhaps not so imaginative with giving.

I work with some of the nicest ladies I have ever met and we have a really great culture in our little office. One of these ladies, Narelle is just a doll, she is sweet, thoughtful and caring and is always bringing little gifts for the office. She is the person who always does the rounds of the office if she is going out somewhere to ask if anyone needs something picked up or dropped off in another part of the unive… Continue

Welcome - love how you see life......I always say that if I can only teach my children one thing it would be to see the beauty and joy in the simple things - like a rock, a snail or a hidden creek, the beauty of the changing leaves, a bird nest, etc.......Enjoy this NEW journey..

Hi Erin I am sorry to hear that. And Yes what if you were to start with letting go the judgement about yourself! Thanks for your vulnerability in sharing this Mbali

Mbali, this is such a pertinent post for me right now. I'm struggling with forgiveness and resentments I hold against someone right now. I know, rationally, that it is hurting me far more than it will ever hurt her... I can't let go yet. I'm working…
