wonderful advice, especially in today's topsy-turvy world. so often we get into a rut in our thinking when a different approach would accomplish wonders. thanks, Debra, for opening my mind to a world of possibilities! Hugs, Dawn

I love this! It's something that I think about alot. I ask myself "How can I use what I have?" I also think it makes giving more enjoyable when your giving something that you love. :)

Match What You Love

There are so many organizations, businesses and individuals that need help today. What is the one thing you are good at and love doing? There are so many ways that you can help. You can use your skills to create something new, improve, organize, build, lead or solve a problem. You can also provide a service, teach others, write to express your opinion, repair or restore something. Be Present So You Can Receive!

The thought of the day is, "Be present so you can receive." Being present is not all that easy these days. With so much to do and so much information we can easily have our mind on three things at once. By being fully present with another individual, you are giving them your full attention. In return you may receive the greatest gift of all. Take time to be in the present. If you're by yourself today be present with nature. The rewards are many.

What can I give to my Mother?

My full attention...My mom broke her finger. She is 85 and a widow, missing my Dad for the last 4 years. She has the need to direct about everything I do for her. Instead of protesting I went along with all of it. Her requests were many, from de-boning a chicken so she could eat, watering the plants, paying a bill, you get the idea. As I leave to go home I wonder if she"ll be ok and I remind her to call me and tell me what she needs.

What I have received.

I am giving everyday. The smallest jester, a smile, a hello or a wave all to complete strangers. Or understanding to my family. I in turn am receiving work I love and people asking me "How are You?" and wonderful conversation. Others are offering me help by giving me information or help on a new business I just started. Each day has been better than the last. I am so great full.

Hi, Debra.
Nice to meet you.

I love your thought for the day about being present. That's such an important thing we can give people. I try to do that. I am so present to people as A PERSON that I often am not present/pay no attention to certain other things .... one thing I don't pay much attention to is how a person looks .... I don't notice if they got a new hair cut, etc. Yesterday I saw a cousin and he had just gotten a hair cut AND completely shaved off a rather full/long beard and it took a while before I even made notice of it ... because I was just paying attention to HIM, not his face. I was tuned into his thoughts, feelings, etc.

Today I choose to spend the day with my daughter eating lunch and painting pottery. We have not done this in a very long time. We both walked away relaxed after a fun day! I also gave a hug to someone I have not seen in years.
