I just finished my first Jodi Picoult book, Change of Heart, and I really enjoyed it. Very thought provoking! Will read more in future for sure.

Interesting discussion. I started this book on Kindle a few weeks ago and have had a hard time getting into it. The beginning is a lot of descriptive language and kinda dull. I will keep plugging away.

It's great that you are receiving ... if nobody would receive nobody would be able to give :) We all deserve to be the receiver instead of the giver sometimes. So nice of your parents to help out. Sounds like you really gave to your husband by tryin…

An abundance of help!

Lately it feels like I have been receiving more than giving, and I accept it with gratitude. I have been on Spring Break for the last week and my son had made plans with me to come and help me with household projects. His plans fell through, and he couldn't get off work. I was immensely disappointed, for about half a day. Then I decided that I would accept it, because that was the way it is, and something good would come out of it. Well, my wonderful parents - ages 60 and 62 - came over to my ho… Continue

"God, spare me from the desire for love, approval or appreciation." Giving without an agenda.

This morning I was writing in my journal and reviewing my intentions for yesterday. I did make it to the library and donated the audio book that I had been carrying around in the car. I also did some other gives that I had not planned. I gave an aloe vera plant to my housekeeper. She was admiring my plants and I had recently split and repotted the aloe, so I just spontaneously told her to choose one. She thanked me graciously, and it almost embarassed me, because the gift was so minor to me.

Give one of the very best gifts: a Joy of Reading

In my quest for contentment, I have found a lovely blog called Zen Habits. Many of you might enjoy it. The web address is http://zenhabits.net/. The reason I mention it this morning is because today's blog is all "How to Instill the Love of Reading - In Your Child, or Yourself." Since our cause of the month is supporting your local library, I thought this was particularly appropriate. I encourage you to check out the blog and the website. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I have a ver… Continue

Giving in the workplace

The nursing school where I work started back to school last week and frustrations have been running high. All of the facultty feel overloaded and we've had a lot of challenges with finding faculty and sites for our students to do clinical work. Tempers are short. Everyone is filled with complaints. Could you find an oppoortunity more ripe for giving? LOL

To ease the general discontent - I volunteered to take on some additional responsibilities beyond my assigned workload. I picked up running tw… Continue

A new approach - I quit counting.

Toward the end of my last 29 days, I lost count of the both the day and what my gifts might have been. Today I thought about starting a new cycle, but it seems like a hassle to me to remember what date is what day and remind myself each day to give. Just one more thing to go on the calendar - which is getting pretty full with the start of the new semester. Yet I don't want to leave the 29-Day challenge either. It gives me JOY.

My decision? I am going to give what I can, when the opportunity ari… Continue

Denise,
I encourage you to read The Shack all the way through. It does sort off start off a little slow ... or just different than what I was used to maybe ...but I think it's really worth the read.

If there are any books that you recommend ...
well, I'm always looking for good reading material (not that I should be, I already have plenty that I want to read)

Thank you so much. I agree with you about rules. I'm the supervisor in the office and I can bend them, but when I do, it get's the other super supervisors upset. I'm a college student as well and I know how expensive it can get, so I sympathize with the kid.

Dear Denise,

Thank you for the compliment and kind words! I alway sused to say: "If you can do it, it's not bragging." But I have also been a person who prefers to stay behind the scenes. It doesn't matter who gets the glory in my book! A lot of good can be accomplished if we don't care who gets the glory! So...I will continue to share as time permits. I am off for Iceland in three days, so there might be a little lapse in blogs, but not in giving! I briefly read your blog posts...and I have requested to add you as a friend! Beautiful expressions from your heart! May you have a magical day and week! Dawn

Hi Denise, Sorry I didn't get back to you. I thought I'd get a prompt in my email, maybe I missed it. I have the privilege of supporting people in creating happier healthier lives. That might sound like an advertisment, but it's actually true! I have already worked with a number of nurses as clients, by the way. One needed to gain weight and two wanted to loose weight. They all wanted to feel healthier and happier. They all achieved their goals, plus some. One of them lost 30lbs without dieting and by the end, just glowed! I'm so happy doing this work! If you'd like to check me out or sign up for my newsletter you can find me here: www.LifeShine.net
Take care, Kelly

they're standard pants sizes, and they do run on the smaller side. we don't do small, cuz they are already a bit small (and no woman should be a small after a c-sec for a while!) ; ) the beige and white currently also come in XL. the good thing is they are all stretch fabric, and soft elastic, so there's room for lots of stretch.
you are so sweet for bookmarking me! ; )
all the best,
jen
