i think that you showed very good judgment in not exposing others to your bug. your "keep" is definitely a give. i know it's disappointing that you couldn't complete the walk, but there is always next time. take care of yourself and feel better so...

Giving a gift to yourself and others by 1) taking care of your own health, and 2) stopping your walk to keep others from getting ill is the greatest gift. Make some 'chicken soup', whatever that may be for you, and get better.

So sorry you missed your walk. Get well soon and focus on the next important thing you look forward to. Take it easy and GET WELL SOON :o)

That is incredibly sad!! We are so hard on ourselves sometimes it is just crazy. I know I do the same thing, but you should never have attempted the walk sick! Now, stay in bed and take care of yourself and try not to feel guilty about it!! I get ...

Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
I have always been a giver, and it will be good to document how I give and how I feel when I do it. I have no idea what will come of these 29 days, but I am sure that it will be the first of many 29 day cycles.
What I'd most like to receive:
A new, interesting, lucrative job with benefits, that challenges me enough to have fun working.

About me:
I am a 55 year old divorced woman who is thankfully nearing the end of the worst year of my life. I firmly believe that there are cycles in life and that the bad is balanced by the great. I have always been a giver - pay it forward has been a motto of mine for many years. I am a transplanted Canadian in Arizona, who doesn't miss the snow, not one little bit!

Day 10 and 11 - a keep is as good as a give....in this case

Well, it just got worse until finally today I realized it was strep throat (I have had it many times, but this time it crept up, masquerading as a cold on the first day). I hope that I didn't inadvertently pass it on to anyone. Still spiking fever, but not so high or as often, so I think improvement is happening. Haven't been out the door, but my gift today and yesterday has been to NOT share the crud.

Day 9 - a disappointment and a give

Thursday night, the night before the Breast Cancer 3Day, I started getting what I thought was a cold, so went to bed early thinking that I could kick it and be ready for the walk. I thought that walking 60 miles with a cold couldn't be as bad as chemo, and had every intention of walking all three days. The "cold" got much worse and I had to stop walking at 8 miles, when I was shaking so badly I could barely stand up. I really believed I could walk, albeit slowly, but after noticing the number of… Continue

Day 8 - Two gives - one from me and one from my cat

Babysitting again, but at my house. The kids were absolutely infatuated by my Balinese cat, and I have to say that I think she had more of a give than me. She was awesome with them, and I just lover her all the more.

Tomorrow starts the 3Day. I have a cold but I think that chemo is much worse, so I'll be there with Vaseline on my feet....

Day 7 - a little late

Yesterday I babysat. Thos who know me well will be completely shocked, and I have to say it was both fun and exhausting. I took care of my sister's partner's kids so that my sis and partner could have a date whild they were here visiting. It helped that we came with gifts (mum came too), both of which were a huge hit. I do, however, regard the sitting as the gift for the day....

Support our Cause of the Month
In November, we're sponsoring a cause that has been started by fellow giver, Lubabat. We are so deeply touched and impressed by Lubabat's strength of character & spirit. Lubabat was diagnosed with MS in the mid 90s and then in August of 09, she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Her reaction has been so inspirational - she is thriving through giving. She is hosting a Christmas Give and her theme is "going small to make a big impact" We have named her our November Cause of the Month and would be grateful for your support!

Happy giving!

P.S. Don't miss our handy 29-Day Giving Calendar or our cute Gift Note to accompany your gifts.
