Why I'm choosing to give:
I have come to a place where I feel like I am treading water and not going anywhere. I need to look outside of myself for a while.
What I'd most like to receive:
A steady stream of income to support my family and energy to care for my 2 year old granddaughter.

About me:
I am now in a position of raising my 2 year old granddaughter for a season. She is my 12th grandchild. I also have 2 great-granddaughters. I love being a grandma, but I find it challenging to be the caregiver on a permanent basis. I wouldn't have it any other way though.

My husband of 25 years is truly my best friend. We talk about everything. My home has always been by his side, where ever that is.

I have 4 children and 1 stepson. They are our joy.

Day 29 Self Care Round

November 6, 2009

It is with a sigh of relief that I write this blog tonight. It is the last day of my self care round. It has been a difficult round, but I have learned lessons from it. I wondered why Mbali had us water a plant and I think I am beginning to grasp why.

When I began this round I knew that I had a black thumb and was not able to raise a plant. I had to go and buy the plant and the pot. I purposely chose a slow growing plant. That way I wouldn’t be disappointed at the end of the r… Continue

Day 25-28 Self Care Round

November 2, 2009

My son, Kathy’s dad called and needed some medical history. I had given him all of his history years ago, he can’t find it. So I emailed him a brief history.

Paul had to replace the wheel bearing of the car. He started in the afternoon, positive he would be done by sunset. He wasn’t, so my big give today was to stand out my car and then waved at motion detector light when it went out. Paul fixed car and we were able to take a test drive during a perfect evening.

Day 22-24 My Self Care Round

October 30, 2009

My plant looks amazing. I have already separated it once, now I have two plants. I need to separate one of the two again, making three plants. I hope to do that in a few days. I am new to this since I am just now learning that I could grow things. I think eventually I will put all of the plants in one big pot, but I need to research that a little. A side note, my chrysanthemums that I was given looks good too. It doesn’t seem to be growing but new blooms keep showing up.

We sp… Continue

Thank you for the welcoming! I am sorry it took so long to respond. It has been a long month but I am focusing more now on what this challenge means and to really put myself out there.

You know I started Yoga, have only done it a few times but I'm liking this because I am looking for something to control my anxiety rather than medication. I know meditation goes along with this. Meditation is hard for me because my mind is so used to racing from one thing to another. Then I start thinking about all the things I should be doing, anyway, I will continue to work on this because I think it would be useful. Do you really find it helpful?

Thank you, Elly! I am having fun with this...not that I've been posting consistently every day, but I have been giving every day...even little things like giving a 20% off coupon to the man behind me in line at Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Hi Elly, somedays it's really hard to stay sane with my girls. My mom keeps telling me that time will fly by, well right now I'm hoping that it does or I may have to put myself in an institution, ha. I love my girls more than anything but wow can they push every button I have.

I've not received any official welcome that I know of. Am just kind of clumsily looking around the site. Thanks for the welcome!

Today I decided I would surprise my son when he got home from school with a fresh tray of rice krispie treats instead of the store bought ones. He told me that I was the best mom, and he is 17 so that is a treat for me.
