This is great! Thanks. So much has to do with packaging, I think. It really helps to move beyond that and decide for ourselves how we want to spend out time and money.

What a great way to teach your children the value of generosity. I love seeing others include their children in some form of mindful giving! Glad to see you figured out the badges issue for you blog too - thanks so much for doing that!

G-d bless you and all the moms. I don't know how you do it. I have a dog and I stopped there. Teaching is fun, but I get to give them back and never have to deal with "Where's my?" "I need a ride to" "I need money for", etc..

Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
I started my blog "Each Day Is a Gift" (eachdayisagift.blogspot.com) as a reminder to myself of how generosity puts me on the right path and keeps me from getting bogged down with unimportant worries about life. I want to learn to be better at giving.
What I'd most like to receive:
The capacity to truly live joyfully without fear.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
lanipuppetmaker.blogspot.com's blog. She and I went to art therapy school together many years ago and I am taking an e-course with her now on art and resilience.
About me:
Writer, artist, musician, yogini and mom-trying to find the balance between living a deeply felt creative life at the same time as I am living in the world as a mom and a human being.

Last nine days-I am at Day 29!!

I am actually at day 29 today-I didn't realize it. I have to confess that I have not been so mindful of this the last nine days though it is always at the back of my mind now-the idea of giving.

I was distracted this time by my birthday coming up.
So here it is as well as I can remember:

20. Does this count? I bought beautiful paper lanterns and glass colored balls for citronella oil to make my birthday party magical and fun. A gift for me and my guests and for my kids who loved helping decora… Continue

Giving at home and caring for myself: Days 14-16 and 17 -19

I meant to get to this sooner but was sidetracked by a yucky sinus infection that was only yesterday finally diagnosed so that I could start the right medication. What a difference today!

Day 14 I sewed stars and patches on my son's Taekwondo uniform. It means so much to him and I am very slow so it took me an hour and a half!

Day 15 Gave my husband and daughter backrubs even though I felt miserable with this infection.

Day 16 My husband gave to me. I stayed home while he took the kids to NJ… Continue

Days 7 through 13

Wow, the days are going fast! It is nice that my birthday will fall in the middle of my 29 days so I want to include the giving challenge into my birthday celebration.

Day 7 Today I gave to myself. I was not feeling well so I scheduled a massage with a friend who is a massage therapist and happened to be able to fit me in. It felt great and it was good to catch up with her. It had been a long time.
Day 8 Gave my son the afternoon off from camp to go see my daughter (10) in her performance at he… Continue

Second three days

For the second three days of the 29 Day Giving Challenge, here is what I did.

Day #4 Whenever I have a free chunk of time, I like to write in a coffee shop downtown. There is a woman who is a regular on the street in front of that coffee shop and I have gotten to know her. She buys flowers, carnations, and carefully wraps them individually and asks for donations of a dollar for each flower. I saw her on this day and gave her a dollar for one of her flowers. She always says it is "for the prince… Continue
