I've had the same experience, altho some of the people I've mentioned it to think it sounds wonderful, everyone seems to think they are "too busy right no to add one more thing" -- it's hard to say, but I think people see any additional commitment...

Just some thoughts: I have only discussed this challenge that I am on with my husband. I think it is very personal. It seems that not everyone is ready to take on this challenge... It is a commitment. It is not for everyone. I signed up with the ...

I guess that is the thing with advice... it can be a gift. But then people can do what they like with it. If you give advice and then expect people to follow your direction then in some way you have attached "strings". Giving people permission to ...

Excuse me! Helping your class to bake is indeed giving. Why would you think it isn't. I'm sure you didn't have to do it, right. I like your other gifts too. Notes rock! And thanks for reminding me about the mammogram site.

Chris, I am now on day 23 of the Challenge. Some days my giving is very conscious--I set out with a recognition of what I'm going to give. Some days there is no conscious effort to give and I have to look back on my day and think, "What did I give...

Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
Because I believe that we can never give enough. There is so much need in the world that to ever feel as if, "Well, I've given my share", is selfish. Of course, we all have limitations to what we can give, but I like to ask, "What else can I give? Even if it's only a smile to someone who looks out of sorts.
What I'd most like to receive:
I lack for nothing really. What I most would like to see is more people taking this challenge.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
My daughter
About me:
I am a 61 year old real estate agent and Yoga teacher who believes that "Service is the rent we pay for living." I am currently organizing a second annual fundraiser for our local food bank. The only reason that I would ever like to be rich is so that I could devote my life full time to service and giving.

Day 23 A Book-----AGAIN

I know I probably sound like I'm "beating a dead horse" but I just can't stop talking about "The Go-Giver". The point is, if you are in the business world it is so easy to become obsessed with the word "sucess". And for many people that word connotes only money, things, egoic recognition, beating the competitor, etc. My friend is embarking for the first time in her life, on a career that is often overly focused on money making. I felt it was important to give her the best business book I have ev… Continue

Day 22 Connecting People

I was at a luncheon last week with some professional business women. One of the women told me about the consulting business she had started after losing her job. When she described her business it sounded suspiciously like the business one of my client/yoga student/friend had started for the same reason. I mentioned my friend to her and said that I thought they should meet. They are both single divorced women around the same age consulting to the same industry.

So I wrote to both of them in the… Continue

Day 21 The 5th Law of Stratospheric Success: The Law of Receptivity

The book The Go-Giver , is a business book about achieving success by making giving, "not a strategy, but a way of life". "You give, give give. Why ? Why, because you love to." The book has 5 Laws. I have had a couple of major breakthroughs and have just finished reading the book for a second time. The one that relates to my giving yesterday is the 5th one--The Law of Receptivity. Pindar, the teacher of Joe, the protaganist, asks him, "When you were young what did you learn about giving?"… Continue

Day 20 I Didn't Blow It After All

I woke up this morning thinking that I had blown the giving challenge because I hadn't given anything yesterday. I racked my brain trying to remember if I had opened a door for someone, given someone an unexpected compliment--anything that could qualify as my Day 20 gift. I was about to report sadly that, "No, I didn't give a single gift yesterday."

And then I remembered an early morning phone conversation that I had with a dear friend. The conversation almost made me late for a meeting, but I… Continue

Keri, I hope you won't be offended by my comment, but the 29 Day Giving Challenge is not a website designed to promote one's business by referring people to personal/business websites to read blogs about 29 Days of Giving.
