A Cherokee Feast of Days April 15

i find myself turning to this little miracle with covers now in my sadness and grief, its like a little salve for the soul to think on the words of great thinkers past and consider what is greater than myself:

Neither people nor animals take time to analyze right and wrong when they are cornered. They react in the only way they know how - most backing away when they have the chance.

On the other hand, some are not wise enough to see the chance to rethink the situation. They run roughshod and t… Continue

March 20 Cherokee Feast of Days Vol II

Another amazing entry from Joyce Sequichie Hilfer's book of wonders:

Few people go through life without some kind of trauma. But everyone doesn't react the same way. Certain experiences are magnified by pain and kept alive by distressed memory - so hostile conditioning is the result. Our own included.

Nothing is ever fixed by glossing it over or covering it up. We cannot change what has already happened, but we can lessen the effect by putting it in perspective. It happened, it hurt, it still… Continue

Message from the Chief

Remember the other day when I mentioned that I had received the Cherokee Feast of Days from a friend of mine? Well, today I called him to talk with him about a big decision that I'm having to make about my old dog... I'm sure you can guess, but briefly, she's a 16 year old Sharpei - they typically only live to about 9. She has been doing worse and worse and on Sunday basically stopped voluntarily taking food. Today I fed her hotdogs, string cheese and a half of a boiled egg... all of which is 10… Continue

Cherokee Feast of Days II March 18

Following on yesterday's post I thought I would share another passage from this tiny book of wonders:

Don't give up. We've been against stone walls before and had no one to tell us what to do. Stay away from self-condemnation. It is designed to tear down our interest and vision. When a person loses interest, he loses his ability to see solutions.

Be quiet. Excess noise, too much talk, and too little rest only adds to the confusion. Most likely something will whisper to use reason - whose reaso… Continue

'May today there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others. May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are. Let this knowledge… Continue

Hi Julee, I am so sorry for taking so long to get back re your offering to bring me dinner. What a wonderful thought. Unfortunately our time zones won't match no matter what I try and my private jet hasn't been ordered as yet. Oh well, I'll make something special and have you as my unseen guest

Julee,
I just looked at your pieces for sale. They are magical. I know now what to tell Paul what I want for my birthday. He loves it when I have something in mind. He hates to guess what I what.
