I think it's definitely a story worth repeating. It's all these "little" things that make the world a better place.

Why I'm choosing to give:
It's part of an intentional giving resolution I made this year to do things in the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through His grace that I have any thing to give whether it's stopping traffic behind me to let someone make a left turn, to give a bag of groceries or to sponsor a child in Africa.
What I'd most like to receive:
I don't really expect to receive anything, but I'm hoping to make a book with friend's favorite quotations. So if you have a favorite, please leave me a post!
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?

About me:
First I'm a christian, a wife, mother and grandmother, children's church leader, and assistant manager in a retail store. I grew up in a home that didn't have many extras, yet I watched my mother bake and give away pies, or put together food for hungry families who lived nearby. My dad would drive and pick up people and take them to the voting polls, and he gave blood whenever needed. None of those are great things, but like Mother Teresa says, "We cannot all do great things, but small things with great love."

Like pples of Gold...

Tonight at work I was called to the register when a customer was trying to use a pre-paid credit card which still had about $4.80 left on it. We tried everything we could think of to get the card to work, but we remained unsuccessful. Behind her in line was one of our regular customers who was waiting patiently for her turn and watching as this mini drama unfolded. Then she whips out five dollars and says in a sweet voice, "oh, here, honey, I have $5....you just take it."

Customer A says, "Oh,… Continue

I wanted to give something away, but I couldn't find it...

We lived in the same house for 29 years, and I knew where everything was. Then my husband surprised me one day and built us a much bigger house, the kind I'd dreamed of but never thought I'd live in. There's lots of room in it, but it seems like I just can't put my hands on things like I used to. I can't remember if what I'm looking for is in a closet, a drawer, a box, or if it sold at a garage sale or I gave it to the Goodwill. It's not old age that has me confused, it seems like it's just bein… Continue

Work of Heart

I had a little set back for a while with some little health issues and such, but as I looked over my weeks, I could always point out some good gives that either were planned or happened. Sometimes I like the ones that just happen the best.

The ladies in my home team were going on a retreat. It would have been 12 hours in a car over a weekend, and my back just doesn't do well being still for that long. I decided against going, but instead wrote out a check to pay for their gas.

I gave myself so… Continue

Smelly Giving Opportunity

The care ministry in our church is making Valentines Day gift baskets for single moms and widows. The leader always calls me to see if I have anything, and I usually always do. I had made some wise purchases during Christmas when there were great sales and great coupons to use at The Bath And Body Works.

Right after she called I got this coupon offer from BBW stores for buy ANYTHING, get a free full size Signature Collection Item for FREE. So I printed up a couple coupons and went to two differ… Continue
