Day 25 - 27: Giving as you go

E-mail messages of support, a surprise present, home-made mince pies, a telephone call, virtual hugs, remembering to log on and give a small amount to the radio 4 Christmas appeal, paying attention to people who are low, providing space and encouragement for people to express themselves, smiles and laughter, saying 'thank you' when people wouldn't expect it, smiling when you walk past someone, being there, making practical suggestions, being open and friendly, sending a friend a note to say 'I h… Continue

Days 18 to 24: Too Busy to Write the Journal!

I've fallen by the wayside in writing this journal, which is a shame, because I know I'm going to forget the small gifts that I gave (and received) along the way.

I have kept giving as my focus though. I've given quite a lot (more than I intended) in charitable donations, acting more on impulse than I normally do. From small amounts - a pound in a collection tin - to larger amounts, £50 towards the Bethlehem appeal from Medical Aid for Palestinians. I've tried to give to things where I felt my… Continue

Day 17: The Start of a New Month

I gave encouragement, support and practical help to a wonderful, giving, learning community. I've taken a stretch with them recently, and it feels good.

I gave a small donation to an AIDS charity in honour of World Aids Day, and tried to do a little bit of raising awareness too.

I'm talking to the charity I'm hoping to volunteer with on Wednesday, and I'm feeling really good about the chance to give my skills and experience to them.

I gave my time and attention to a friend, who needed to offl… Continue

Day 15 and 16: Taking Time to Learn

Two great days spent in a Gaelic workshop, so not much time to give anything beyond the things I try and give every day:

courtesy
respect
listening to others
smiles
laughter
encouragement
kindness
friendship
support
gratitude to those who teach, and those who learn
enthusiasm
focus
attention

Not so bad really....

The two days were cold, really cold, but bright and sunny. I had 30 minutes after the class to walk in fading light. So I walked along the loch, took photographs, and gave thanksContinue

Day 14: The Start of Winter

See what happens when you don't write every day... you don't pay the same attention to the giving, or the receiving.

Except to remember it was the first bright, sweet day of winter, with snow on the hills.

We did a "give" in Atlanta a few months ago and gave away 100 roses on a sidewalk, it was 9 members from the metro ATL area, we started a "local" group, and you can start or join one too!
Make friends, read blogs, write blogs and leave other folks comments! Post pics and videos, join inner groups and GIVE! Have fun and watch for miracles to happen in your life when you do 29 in 29! Hope to see you around in the site!
