- Why I'm choosing to give:
- Dec 18the was the anniversay of my Mom's death to a brain glioma. I want to "grow up and be just like her". She was the most loving, giving person I have every known. Her friends, family and charitable organizations could never repay the gifts she has given to us all.
- What I'd most like to receive:
- I would like to receive a gift to myself of the satisfaction that she must have had by doing and giving without expectation of anything in return.

- About me:
- I have had MS for almost 20 years. I actually could be the "poster child", as I have done really well for a long time. I work for a program that is funded by a state grant that provides vision and hearing screening to pre-school aged children. I heard a calling about 5 years ago to help with a volunteer program through the public library that delivers story books, dvds to in home daycares so that they may have the gift of reading available to them. I have found that this very much supports my belief in the importance of my work in that kids with vision and hearing issues will be identified early and will benefit prior to school-age the wonderful world of reading. I have know several people (adults & children) that have print disabilities. Perhaps with my help others can obtain early intervention and not have to struggle as much in their daily lives. I do have 2 adult children. My first, now 24, was born with a congenital birth defect. She only has 1 ear. She can only hear in mono. This has not stopped her from becoming an awesome music/band teacher! My son age 19, was born with a congenital heart defect. He has gone on to become a strong athlete. He needed glasses at age 4, and would have have great difficulty in school is not identified so early. He is currently in school to pursue physical therapy degree.
My career, volunteering and my children give me the inspiration to get up every day and go forth!
