Why I'm choosing to give:
I've been thinking about how people can alter the energy of the world with simple intentions and actions, and then I stumbled upon your website, and I love the premise! I think this is a wonderful idea.
What I'd most like to receive:
Abundance, security.

About me:
I am a painter and graphic designer in New York City who is very interested in meditation. Lately I feel like there is a major spiritual shift going on with positive changes, and when I found this website, it really appealed to me on that level. I believe people are becoming more and more aware of how linked we are to one another. I've always been very affected by my dreams, and I've had a lot of premonitions in them throughout my life. Having had the challenges of a neurological illness, I'm currently working on a manuscript about the interconnectedness of health issues I have experienced, making art, and the way the world of the spiritual ties everything together over the years.

Thoughts about The First 29 Days

I've been mulling it over for the past week or so, trying to find the right words to summarize what I've gotten out of participating in 29 Days of Giving. I do feel that I've always been a person inclined to give daily, but it now seems clearer to me that there was a part of me that was always trying to hold myself back a bit. There was a varied chorus of excuses that would sometimes pop up: Don't let other people take advantage of you; don't do good just for the sake of being a do-gooder; don't… Continue

Day 4, Round 2-Granting a Wish to The Person Who Needs It

We ran into a couple of very colorful People Who Needed It today. Thomas had a check-up at his doctor's, near our old neighborhood. I had forgotten that there are a couple of very charismatic homeless people who are regulars on 6th Avenue in the Village.

As we were walking along, approaching W. 11th Street, one such guy, sitting on a chair on the sidewalk looked at me and said in a comical voice, "I sure wish you would give me a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!"

"I have just the thing for you… Continue

Day 3, Round 2: Cards for Nie Nie (the Nielsons)

I was awfully moved by the post about Nie Nie. I dreamt about her last night and this morning I thought my gift today should be to make her a picture. I mentioned to Thomas that there was a nice woman and her husband who were in the hospital and could use some good wishes if he wanted to make a picture. He did.

Later we had a friend and her 2 girls over today for a picnic lunch in our back yard. It was really great to see my friend--she's been away for awhile.

I also did a session this evening… Continue

Day 2, Round 2: Coney Island

On Tuesday morning it occurred to me to introduce (via e-mail) 2 friends who could help each other . (One is working on an article and could use a quote from the other.) They got in touch with each other, so hopefully it will work out nicely for both of them.

I watched my friend's son (Thomas's good friend) for a couple of hours, and as we were in the backyard playground, another friend who has a son both boys are friends with called. I invited them over and it was nice to have all the kids tog… Continue

Day 1, Round 2

Monday was my first day of Round 2. I sent a small painting (to a very generous 29-Gifter!) and an Obama T-shirt to someone else. I also did a little professional favor for a friend.

I love your art and I love your blogs. Is pie2kids.com your website? What a great site. I wish the sizes were larger. I have always thought how wonderful it would be for kids to where shirts with inspirational messages instead of having "Who needs brains when you have these?" smeared across their chest (Abercrombie and Fitch t-shirt btw!)

Kim - I loved your "art supplies" post - I've found that art is like that: it is a great connector! Have an awesome weekend!
