Round 2 Day 17- Smiles!

So today, instead of spinning I decided to go for a run along the river here in Philly. It's a beautiful path and it always makes me feel good to be outside enjoying this lovely weather. Round 2 Day 14- Sharing a favorite blog and a little retail therapy

I have been following a food blogger for some time now! She is great. Her address is http://prettyyumyum.tumblr.com/ and she shares recipes from all of the internet. Round 2 Day 9- Giving Myself a Break!

So about a year ago I decided to take ownership of my grandmother's house which also happens to be the house I grew up in and in which I still live. My grandmother signed house over to me and I pledged to help fix up the place. Today I made one more step towards that end. I closed on a refinance so that we can put a new roof on the house, some new windows, and most exciting a new kitchen. Round 2- Day 4- More Cooking and the End of Doggie Care!

My cooking frenzy continues so today I decided to make dinner for my mom. I made my whole wheat veggie lasanga which is one of our favorites. I'm really starting my own blog on tumblr, will post when I get it going, but I'm feeling like this could be the beginning of something for me. I truly enjoy baking and sharing treats (as healthy as possible) but treats just the same with my family and friends. Round 2- Day 3- Whole Wheat Banana Bread

I get into cooking/baking frenzies sometimes and this weekend I have been like a whirlwind! I decided on Thursday that wanted to make something yummy so I decided on whole wheat banana bread to share with the fam. Just today I made chicken corn chowder soup from scratch and the bread. Why I'm choosing to give:: I'm choosing to give because I think first and foremost it is a very important part of life. Recently, I've been feeling a bit down and I think that giving to others is exactly what I need to be reminded what life is all about.

What I'd most like to receive:: I think I'd most like to receive a sense of peace. I want to be ok with myself and everyone around me. I know this is a life long quest but I think that it's so important for my well being right now.

How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?: I read Cami's book: The 29 Gifts

About me:: I am a 33 year old program manager in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I am passionate about the world of education, kids, and their well being. Personally I am single and I live at home with my mom and my grandmother in a big 3 story house in Philadelphia. I am an avid reader and occasional yogi :) I try to live a peacefully and as best I can without causing too much harm to myself or anyone else.

Round 2- Day 23- Some supplies for the animals!

I spent the afternoon with some of my favorite 4th graders who are working with my organization on a project about animals. They decided about a month ago that they were going to collect supplies for local animal shelters to donate them. Today was their first collection day and I decided to contribute with some pet food and some detergent (the shelter uses detergent to clean the towels, beds, etc!) I took 2 days off to give myself some time to prepare for the work that is going to be done in my house. I have a conference to go to this weekend that will take up my Saturday, Sunday, and Monday so I decided instead of working 9 days in a row!!!, I would take a couple of days to do what I need to do.
