Threw a Party (Round 2 Day 4)

My nephew, Alex needed a pick me up, so I threw a birthday party for him with cake, decorations, party hats, blowers and all. He's 22. I know he feels loved. Everyone has to have a party once in awhile and be the center of attention. Happy Birthday Alex!!

Obama Ornament (Round 2 Day 3)

My mother-in-law is a die hard Democrat and Obama is her world. Boy, does our house get into some pretty heated political debates. I'm not into that, so I leave when my husband's family gets started. Anyway, I was at one of my favorite stores called Cargo in Portland, OR and I found a great Christmas ornament for my mother-in-law. It was a red, glass ball with a picture of Obama on it. Now, if you are a die hard Democrat like she is, then you must also have a Obama ornament on your Christmas tre… Continue

A Ride For a Stranger (Round 2 Day 2)

Sometimes you just get a certain feeling about people, sometimes it's good and sometimes it's bad. Well, I was out and about and I came upon a man, who was dressed very nicely with a gas can in his hand. This man was probably my dad's age. His wife was also dressed nicely and she was waiting in the car. I didn't really even think twice about it, I rolled down my window and asked if I could help in anyway. The man looked very surprised and relieved at the same time that I would ask if he needed h… Continue

Hi Lisa...thank you for the comment...after reading your blog, I really like the idea of inscribing a personal note in the book and then asking for it to be re-gifted! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving :)

Yes I promise, I am still sane and my daughter is now 40. My day is very lazy today. I am having trouble focusing on anything. I think I need to meditate a little. I sure wish I had known about meditation when my kids were little. It makes a huge difference in my mood and the way that I handle those nasty button pushing moments.
Enjoy today. Are your kids out of school today since it is Veterans Day?

Lisa,
Your mom is right. Someday you will look around and they will be on their own. I remember when my daughter was a teenager. I never thought those years would end. She was a button pusher like your girls. Just keep trying to savor great moments and you will stay sane.

I read your comment, will I survive my teenager. As hard as it may sound, one day these years will be memories. Take heart, you will survive and then your teenager will some day, far in the future, will ask the same question.
