Why I'm choosing to give:
to stop worrying about me and my family and focus for others
What I'd most like to receive:
aside from the obvious: money? From the heart: my sister to move back to the area (10 hours away is painfully far)
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
from another site
About me:
I am a writer, quilter, mother, wife, sister, daughter, gardener, composter, kitty squisher since I was in the single digits, giver, friend, full of myself sometimes and empty others, poet, have seen the worst days and seen the best, know when to shut my mouth and when to open it, and somewhere along the way I became a woman the way I always thought they were: strong.

Day 3: Letters of Love and Shoe Boxes of Joy

Today was interesting to say the least, I stayed home sick, slept, took medicine, looked online for more writing jobs, sat out on the deck and read, and watched my guilty pleasure movie For Richer or Poorer for the umpteenth time. Azriel, our cat, or Azzy for short, enjoyed lying on my lap since my daughter was at school (kitty squisher in the making). I didn't feel like there was a whole lot to give when you're at home by yourself but I finally decided. For each immediate member of my family (n… Continue

Day 2: Touchy feely givin'

Much better day 2, I was very aware of giving today. I hadn't decided on anything in particular when I got up but somewhere along the way I thought about the gift of touch. In my family growing up, if nothing else was good about growing up in it, we always would give each other back rubs, tickly fingers on arms, etc. My daughter lives for "back pats" at night now, so I decided if there was anything I could give, this was it. I'm a supervisor of about ten other women at work all with different pe… Continue

Day 1: A rough start!

Very tough day trying to transition from "me" to "you". I've always found myself a giving person but here lately, with talks of being layed off from my job possibly by the end of the month, the "you" part of my life is fading fast. 29 Gifts may have found me at just the right time.
Today one of my coworkers started coughing way on the other side of the room. I rushed and got her a cup of water without her asking. I then spilled water all over myself and hit my head on the breakroom upper cabinet… Continue

CAUSE OF THE MONTH: This month we're supporting fellow 29Giver and breast cancer survivor, Elysia Skye. Elysia really needs our help to raise funds for a surgery her insurance won't cover. Read Elysia's story here. Donate to her surgery fund today if you can and please spread the word about her cause to anyone you think might help.

Good giving!

Best,

Wako

Gabrielle, I am a high school teacher and my experience is that there are very few 17 year old girls out there that are as wise and mature as you. I wish I had the insight you have when I was your age --shoot, when I was 27! It takes most women so l…

I only gave a small gift today as I spent most of it sequestered in my home cleaning. I actually woke up in a panic that I had forgotten to give yesterday! Then I remembered that I did actually give a bottle of Prosecco to my friends as a thank you…

Well, I lost track of where I was in round two, which is to say, I wasn't doing a very good job of self-care! I recently had a reading with Mbali. I was very frazzled going into it. Had a lot going on in several directions. Then the house phone sta…
