Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
I am surviving cancer, Fourteen years, ten in remission, but the last four with metasticises to my bones. After some radiation I am back walking and active. I get my chemo in pill form and only have an infussion once every 28 days, so I'm good to go. I'm a giver at heart, but a difficult receiver.
What I'd most like to receive:
The ability to be a gracious receiver of whatever gifts are bestowed upon me. I also see the benefits of getting out of myself. I shared the book with both of my cancer support groups. I might be leading a "Healing through Giving" group for seniors reading the book together and giving.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
Joyce, the leader of my cancer support group broght in the book to share.
About me:
I was intranced with the idea of giving with forethought. I am a natural giver. I am a retired thrid grade teacher, Reveiving was another story. One of my challenges has been to accept a gift with joy and thankfulness. It's new, but I am feeling more confident about receiving. I went to Amazon and bought eight books and shared them with my bookclub. I counted that as one gift. Everyone was excited to receive one. and start gifting.

What a great experience I am having. Of course my daily goal is to be in the present, but being watchful of where I can gift really helps my perspective. I've been on a cruise and finished my first 29 days and began my second. Some days I just practiced patience with everyone I met. That gifted both the others on the ship and myself. I also took a lot of group shots holding the camera for many other people so they could be in the picture. I won a massage from the spa. I'm getting to be…

Vacationing with 29 gifts

What an amazing experience. I shared the 29 gifts plan with a few people I met on board. The best part was not knowing what was the "perfect gift" for the day. I loved being in the present and watchful of opportunities. I even became a grateful receiver when I recognized I was the receipient of a gift. Marilyn
