Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
I left a fulfilling job in October due to a stressful work environment. I was 3 months pregnant. I have begun documenting my transitional journey to changing my life, becoming a freelance writer, and working toward self-fulfillment in my blog, Everyday Baby Steps, at www.everydaybabsteps.com. Giving in this way will help me in my self-reflection.
What I'd most like to receive:
An abundance of creativity and motivation that could lead to paying freelance work. I've already begun coming closer to that goal with the implementation of my blog.
About me:
I am a former college counselor and aspiring freelance writer and a mother of three, ages 9, 7, and 4 months. I'm married to a wonderful man, 20 years my senior. All of this makes life fun as well as frantic.

Day 5 - Spreading the Word

Today I submitted an article to a website I write for. The article was about the 29-Day Giving Challenge! I spoke with Cami by phone last week to interview her for my blog and for possible publication. I've been researching paying publications but haven't found one that's just right for the article, so I decided to give it to Mommy Matter, www.mommymatter.com, a site where I contribute for free.

Day Three for Me

Today I gave a phone call to a friend. I wanted to check in on her because she recently underwent surgery that involved going into her brain. While she is recovering, she is staying with family and is away from her daughter. I know this is difficult for her, to say the least. I wish I could be there, but she's two hours away. So I decided to call. She's doing quite well, all things considered, and is in good spirits. I'm glad I was able to talk to her.

Day 4 - Corn

Today's gift was small, but kind of big - I gave corn. To my ex-husband. Yep, we had some extra ears that wouldn't get eaten at our house, so when he came to get the kids, I sent it with him. Good to know we're on such good terms, huh?

Mary's Day 2

I gave a friend some free Mary Kay samples and cosmetics because I accidentally forgot to put in an order for her. I felt terrible that her stuff was not here, so I gave her some freebies to make up for her wait.

Mary's Day 1

The majority of my neighbors are senior citizens. Mrs. W. down the road recently had to put her ailing husband in a nursing home, which I know has been a terrible strain on her. So I took a bunch of Mary Kay samples (I'm an Independent Beauty Consultant) and bagged them up with a pretty care letting her know her neighbors are thinking of her. I hung the bag on her front door. She could use some pampering.

Thanks Mary! I'm tickled pink to be here! This is SUCH a great movement. Reminds me of the "random acts of kindness" movement from the late 80s... you're probably too young to remember that....
