Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
It spreads joy and happiness to one.
What I'd most like to receive:
The strength to use my gift God gave me, by working towards the growth of Operation Teddy Bear Care and spreading miles of smiles and joy in 2009
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
I enjoy inspiration news. My day can't go by without reading Daily good.org I was over joyed when I saw the 29 day challenge. As it inspires one, and makes you realise life is worth living.
About me:
I am a widow. I live in the country with no electricity and no running water. I am interested in recycling and organic gardening. I have two potbellied pigs as pets. I receive a state grant. My husband passed away when my 5 children where still at school My eldest was in matric. I devoted my life to them. It was not very easy being a working mom and raising teenagers. Still today I don't know where I got the strength from. Thank goodness those days are over. I can now reap the benefit of my grandchildren. I have 8 grandchildren. 2 in the UK 4 in Cape Town and 2 in George. Even thow I don't see them often. It was very difficult for me when the children left home. It has taken me years to get use to being on my own.

Going down memory lane.

Sitting thinking of the past as sometimes we tend to do, my memories started coming back to me. When my sister and I joined 29day gifts my feelings were this is not for me, I can’t write and one of the challenges is blogging for 29days. Oh well as the saying goes in for a penny in for a pound. Colleen hesitated but I knew this is her forte as she enjoys writing.
On my second day of blogging my life changed Operation Teddy Bear Care was born.
As you all know I live a very quiet, simple life in th… Continue

LIFES HAPPENINGS

.

Today is a day I will always remember. It is amazing how we go through life accepting life’s challenges and just being content.
Today just being an ordinary day amusing myself, wondering what to do next to past the time and try being content, when I received this phone call from My Nephews wife Sheila. Asking me to spend the weekend with them, as they want to make me a Special Mothers Day Lunch. Wow! This is the first time in my life I have been an Honoured guest. Well this has really touched… Continue

A THOUGHT FOR MOTHERS DAY

All our Special Days (Birthday, Mothers Day ect. ) bring joy to all who has someone special to share with. How often do we think on the Lonely?
My heart was touched when we where making Mothers day gifts and cards from recycle material with the children. One little fellow can to me wit… Continue

Hey Maureen,
I kinda feel disconnected but am moving into the quilting project now and going to recommit to the whole 29 site and OTBC. I feel after Sun we may have a few new people visit and sign up after I do the power point which has the address of both sites in it. Hoping to stir some activity, they will also be posting the OTBC site in newsletters and the website for the church. Pray we get alot of support!

Maureen, tha amazing thing to me is how little it takes to make a big difference. In the case of Keep A Child Alive where they provide Aids prevention and care, it takes less than $1 a day to save a life! That just blows my mind. I will visit the teddbybearcare.org site to read what's going on. That is such a wondeful thing to bring comfort to the little ones over there. Such a geat cause.

Maureen,
Thanks for the comment today. Kathy loves to talk to plants and trees. I will join her and talk to the lettuce. Kathy will be here next week for a week so I will plant them with her. Have a wonderful day.

Hi Maureen, Thank you for your note to me. I am glad that you recieved the package and I do hope you will find a use for all the little "do-dads" I wish it could have been more! And you are very welcome.

I am the one who has been bad about blogging. It seems that when we returned from the California trip I could not get much relief from the back pain. I guess all the sitting while traveling was just too much! I didn't blog because I was not giving -- just reclining in chair and waiting for relief. ( I am a big baby and I don't like to hurt!)

I am better now as long as I don't do things for too long. I have been busy lately getting a new business started and I am making some progress.

You have shamed me into blogging again and that will maybe shame me into giving! Thank you for that!!

Love, Georgia
