Why I'm choosing to give:
I love to see other people happy, plus I want to learn more about myself.
About me:
I moved to Los Angeles four years ago when I got married. Rommel and I have two dogs, a tortoise, a canary, and several fish. I work in the office of a small, independent hardware store and try to spend my extra time reading or gardening.

Days 12 & 13

Day 12 - When I was in college I worked at the honors office as I student worker for four years. The secretary during that time was a wonderful woman named Phyllis. I remember that she loved beanie babies and had them all over the place even though the director didn't like it and said it wasn't professional. She retired the year after I left and we kept in contact for a few years then it kind of dropped off. Maybe it was because we always wrote letters to each other instead of email and I never… Continue

Day 11 - Pandas

I was checking out San Diego Zoo's website today and saw a request for donations to the Wolong Panda Center Earthquake Relief Fund. I had read about the panda reservations having problems with supplies and I thought it was a perfect opportunity to give. So I clicked on the button and it was done in two seconds. It gave me the pick me up that I needed today when I didn't have much energy and was a little worried about how I was going to give. Hopefully I will come upon another opportunity today!

Day 10

First thing this morning I bought a coworker a large cup of coffee when I went to get my usual green iced tea. All day long she talks about how good the coffee is. I can understand when you compare it to the instant she normally drinks.

I also started another blog today. My mother and I were talking about how we wanted to lose weight, etc., and that we should partner up to do it. Things kind of snowballed and now we have ten women who would like to do it with us, but some are in Illinois and so… Continue

Days 4 - 9

Day 4 - I brought a bag of random items that I found while cleaning my closet. I came across a couple of purses that my mother-in-law gave me after visiting family in the Philippines a couple of years ago. They are far from my style, but I felt an obligation to keep them. I finally reasoned that it would be better if someone was actually using them then keeping them stuffed in the back of my closet. So I gave it all to a coworker who loves that kind of stuff. She told me she used one of the purs… Continue

Day 3

Last night I was going through all the plastic totes with my craft/art stuff in them when I came upon a drawing kit and paper that I bought last year for a class that I ended up never actually taking. I kept thinking what a nice and kind of expensive kit it was and debated with myself whether I should keep it or not. In the end I decided to give it to someone at work who loves to draw. I'll admit that I don't get along with him that well, but he is very talented and could really use some good pe… Continue

I think your gift was your willingness to receive from your family. It sounds to me like your giving is wearing off on them - how loveloy!

How exciting to get your medicine necklace! I keep looking at that as a give to myself as well. I send prayers your way for your family - I'm sure your support of them during their time of need is a perfect gift!

Today was a good 'mindful' day. I tried really, really hard to stay connected to all humans, nature, God etc.... First I took our yellow lab for a nice long walk (he LOVES his walks). The sky was overcast and grey and I really relished the quiet and…

Harriet, this is beautiful. You are sharing your faith in God. I like that your love (as well as your daughter's love by her mission work) is being "sent around the world." As the crosses are sentimental to you, you must have received word from God…
