It sounds like today you are giving to yourself some very fond memories. They are always great to draw on when things fall flat in our lives. Like an anti depressant stored in your memories. I hope you had a wonderful time.

Patty, I think you too were a guardian angel. Thank the Good Lord the gentleman in question was not seriously injured, but had he been and some kind but unknowing person moved him at the wrong time it may just have caused untold serious reprecussion…

Hi!
Thank you for your comments on my poems. You say you used to write poetry ... I feel the same way sometimes ... I don't write many poems anymore; these two just came after I joined this site and after a long time of being away from such writing. When I used to write poems, they weren't for anyone but me. But as a part of this site I decided to share these recent ones .... it's different for me, and it's nice to know there are people out there who appreciated them being posted and connected to them in some way. Well, if you find your way back to poetry I hope you will share some poems with us too.

Patty,
Thanks for the comment on my blog today. I have to tell you that I don't write my letters by hand. I use the computer. My handwriting is ineligible. But I add pictures and give many details. My mother-in-law has everyone of them that I have written. My sons bought me a Harlequin Romance one Mother's Day and then watch to see if I read it. I spent the evening reading with them in the room so that they would know how much I appreciated the book. I have never read James Patterson. Hope your sister loves murder mysteries.

Hi and welcome!
Your sister said you'd be perfect for this site ... or was it that the site would be perfect for you? Either way, this is a great place to be. She's right; you won't be sorry you joined.

We decided to take Mother's Day in a new direction and commemorate the month of May with a cause that celebrates Mother Earth. This month we're encouraging members to plant a tree or support an organization that will. You can see our ideas and suggestions HERE.

Also PLAY GIFT TAG! Help support the 29Gifts Community and have some fun too by 'playing' with these beautiful and unique gift tags. It's the gift that multiplies – your support is a gift to the 29Day Giving Challenge, and a gift to those who receive them too! These funds go to help offset the costs of maintance and hosting for our website and community, making it possible for everyone to continue to revive the giving spirit in the world.

Happy giving!

Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
I'm choosing to give because giving of myself makes me feel good and it comes very naturally. I'm a very nurturing person and I always felt better giving than receiving. I work in Manhattan so there's lots of opportunity to give and lend a hand on a daily basis.
What I'd most like to receive:
Any little unexpected "gift" is always so appreciated. I think I'd like to receive an uplift in spirit just from giving a bit each day.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
My sister, Kathleen Ravel.
About me:
I live in LI and am in a relationship with some with whom I absolutely adore. I have the cutest little cat that I adopted about 2 1/2 years ago when he was around 6 years old. I work for a very small, family-oriented type law firm in NYC for just a little over 24 years. I love Manhattan but also love visiting little towns in the country and spending a day just going in and out of shoppes. One of my favorite pass-times is going out to eat and trying new restauraunts of different ethnicities. I come from a very close-knit family whom I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.
Do you agree to read and follow the 29Gifts Code of Conduct once you join our site?
Yes

It's Friday and I miss visiting

Today is Friday and I am getting ready to pack it up for the weekend and go home. Work has been very crazy and I am so tired when I get home. I have not been on the site all week, and I miss it! I just haven't had the time during the day nor the energy in the evening. I guess I just want to say thank you to everyone for all your kind comments posted about on my blog about that poor little man who fell last week. I'm sure he's doing fine and is back up and riding...what a great way to live life!… Continue

A Very Special Give

Yesterday, as I was leaving the bank, I walked out onto Third Avenue in Manhattan (a very busy place as you can imagine) to see somewhat of a commotion ... of course, me being me, I walked over see for myself what was going on because, as human nature would have it, you ask 10 different people, you get 10 different answers (or versions I should say). In the street was what we call in NY a bike messenger; only this one was different. He was an older man, I would put him up around 70(!) who was si… Continue

Thursday, a Double Dose of Giving

Each morning I visit the Animal Rescue site (theanimalrescuesite.com) where there is a designated box to click on. Each click counts towards feeding rescued animals. I also like to read the stories posted by people who have rescued animals; they're little faces are such a joy and a great way to start the day. I've been looking for a tote bag to bring to use for work when this morning it dawned on me to check out what the website had to offer. I found the cutest tote - Paws Galore - which I wound… Continue

My Weekend

Friday night, on the way home from work, there were some awesome musicians pleasing everyone in the subway station (I say pleasing cause they were a very talented group of men, and sometimes the subway musicians are just terrible!). Anyway, these guys were great. I actually took a minute to listen to a song which was both familiar and beautiful to my ears. Of course I dropped a donation into their guitar case and wished them well - as the singer did to me - before hopping on my train. I got home… Continue

Mother's Day

Today is Friday and I just wanted first to thank everyone who responded to My First Blog (which, by the way, is really my FIRST blog...ever, anywhere!)....like I said, I am totally new to this and I'm still taking baby steps. Well, Mother's Day is around the corner, and while I lost my beloved mom a little over 13 years ago, I want to just reach out to all the Mom's here to wish them a very Happy Mother's Day and to allow yourself to be taken care of a bit this year. Pamper yourself (or have som… Continue
